One in four Minnesota women have experienced domestic violence in their lifetime. While approximately 57,000 women and 18,000 men in Minnesota experience domestic violence in a year's time, fewer than one in three instances are reported to police.
Children who experience violence in their home are more at risk of academic failure, school drop-out, delinquency, substance abuse, and difficulties in their own relationships.
Your donation to United Way of Southwest Minnesota helps provide safety and security for innocent victims of violence.
Parenting Blog
United Way of Southwest Minnesota Success by 6 has developed a blog to start conversations regarding a variety of common parenting issues. A goal of Success by 6 is to strengthen parents and families through parent education and family engagement.
The blog will focus on resources and information presented by Barbara Coloroso, internationally recognized parenting expert and author of "Kids Are Worth It!" and "The Bully, the Bullied and the Bystander". We hope that you can incorporate many of Barbara's strategies into your own family life. Check out the blog and ask questions.
