More ways to help kids!

Stuff the Bus school supply collection efforts are underway in this area.  Help a child start school with proper supplies.
 
In Canby, drop boxes are in many locations.  Supplies will be collected on August 14.
 
In Lincoln/Lyon Counties there are drop boxes in many stores. A Stuff the Bus Collection will be held on Thursday, August 6 (11-1) at Knology's Coke Event at the Marshall Armory. 
 


How did this golf tournament get started?

Participants of the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy were challenged to complete a community service project.  One group selected Success By Six as beneficiary of a golf tournament because it benefits preschoolers throughout the area.
 
Team members are:
Jeremy Gossen, Bremer Bank; Cheryl Rude, Avera; Charlie Ehlers, US Bank; Nate Munkel, ADM; and Mary Boulton, Avera.















How can hitting a little white ball get books into the hands of young children?

All proceeds from this tournament will be used to pay for books and materials to improve school readiness of our youngest children.
 
Sponsorship of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
  • Currently 2,406 children (ages birth - 5 yrs) throughout this 5 county area receive a quality age appropriate book in the mail each month at no cost to their families. 

Sponsorship of School Readiness Kits

  •  Each spring, approximately 800 children attending Kindergarten Roundups in 22 area schools receive a Wild About Kindergarten Bag filled with materials to help them prepare for school.

Support Wild About Reading Events

  • Each summer, volunteers read Imagination Library books and lead activities for preschoolers in 16 area parks.
  • Llama Llama Read-a-Rama activities bring a favorite Imagination Library book to life for young children and their families.
All of this and more are literacy building strategies of the United Way Success By Six Initiative.
