Thank you for Living United
Living United is more than just wearing the shirt; it is is doing what it says.  For the past year, many people in this area have worn white t-shirts with black lettering that say LIVE UNITED. And they have taken action!

Living United means being a part of the change.  It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.  Together, we can accomplish more than any single group can on its own.

You can find opportunities for community service at many local nonprofit organizations at the Volunteer Connection (volunteer tab) at our webpage.
For more information please call, 507-929-2273.

Community Investment Volunteers at work
One of the most important volunteer roles for United Way of Southwest Minnesota is the annual citizen review of local nonprofit organizations that seek affiliation and grant funding.  This includes site visits of agencies, review of program goals and results and a recommendation to the United Way board for community impact grants for services provided for this area.

Special thanks go to the 40 volunteers who are working during April and May to carry out this work.

Volunteers prepare Wild About Kindergarten Bags
Wild About Kindergarten bag
Volunteers helped assemble 800 school readiness kits that are given to all children who attend kindergarten round-ups this spring in 22 area schools.  Volunteers included students at Canby Elementary School, members of Xi Beta Epsilon sorority, PTA members at a number of schools and others.

The bags are funded by donations to the annual United Way campaign and prepared by the United Way Success By Six committee.  Preparing WAK bags

The Success By Six committee always appreciates interested people who want to help prepare children for success in school.
