CIHS Newsletter August 2011

Dear CIHS Community Members,

I hope everyone is enjoying summer. We are excited to send you three articles in our August newsletter. First, we are pleased to announce our graduation ceremony on Saturday, September 10, 2011. We have 7 graduates this year. Second, we thank all participants who came to our annual Bio-Energy Devices & Research Seminar/Workshop on July 22, 23 & 24. Please see below for Dr. Toshiaki Harada review of this event. Lastly, Dr. Sailaja Pasululeti announces complementary healing sessions in our CIHS healing room.

We also would like to inform you that we finalized the dates of our annual Yoga workshop inviting Master teacher Takeshima and Paul & Suzee Grilley on April 14 & 15, 2012. Please pencil those dates on your calendar. Of course, to our students, you may take this workshop to fulfill the 2 units of Spiritual Education requirement. We will announce the fee schedule and registration information soon so please stay in touch.

Sincerely,

Hideki Baba, Ph.D.

Hello CIHS Community,

Unbelievably, fall is just around the corner, which will mark my one year date of being at CIHS. The entire community has helped facilitate my transition as Dr. Newby-Fraser's successor, and I want to thank you for reaching out to me with guidance. Your feedback is always welcome.

The CIHS community is more than just a graduate school. It is a unique research center and active learning environment so being strong as a community committed to health, the healing arts, and spiritual progress only makes us stronger. We have many events planned in the next year to celebrate our community including yoga workshops with Master teachers and our annual Bioenergy conference in collaboration with Dr. Thornton Streeter, which we just completed and many of you attended. It was a great success with over 100 attendees and renowned lecturers such as Dr. William Tiller, Dr. Claude Swanson, Dr. Beverly Rubik, Dr. Juan Acosta-Urquidi, Dr. Joie Jonies, Dr. Thomas Brophy, Mr. John Thorpe, Mr. Marcel Wolfe, Dr. Keith Scott-Mumby, to name just a few!

We have been honored to have Dr. Motoyama, the founder and President of CIHS, here from Japan to attend and speak at the Special Lecture session. Dr. Motoyama will be here for approximately one month, and it has been a pleasure to have him here with us. We wish Dr. Motoyama and his family safe travels as they return home at the end of August.

Now we are preparing for graduation Saturday, September 10. I want to acknowledge our graduates who have worked very hard the last few years toward their accomplishment. They can all attest that seeking an education is just as much about personal growth as it is about professional and educational development. Education transforms lives, and it has been a pleasure working with each of these students during the last year.

Congratulations CIHS:
Two Successful Special Events!

1. The 2nd Bio-energy Devices & Research Seminar/Workshop

This event was held from the evening of Friday July 22 to noon of Sunday 24th. This time, the program was more focused and had a clearer concept. The Seminar/Workshop opened on Friday evening with a special lecture entitled, "New Paradigm of Science-Importance of Bioenergy Research," by Dr. Thomas Brophy, Associate Professor of CIHS. It was followed by informal dinner and networking.

The Saturday program was dedicated to scientific presentations with 7 speakers on related subjects as follows:

Dr. Claude Swanson presented studies of extraordinary phenomena outside the scope of conventional science and Torsion theory as a strong candidate of comprehensive theory to July Subtle Energy Workshop Attendeesexplain them. Dr. Beverly Rubik talked about her double blind 40Hz g-brain wave study of meditators vs. non-meditators, showing significantly more enhanced g-waves with the meditators correlated with increased subjective feelings of love and compassion. Dr. Juan Acosta-Urquidi explained his finding of a-wave enhancement in healer's QEEG during the act of various modalities of healing. Dr. Shin Lin presented his study of Taichi body movement showing how various bio-energetic markers changed during the performance, highlighting synchronous changes between peripheral blood flow and BP of the AMI. Dr.Koji at Subtle energy WS July.2011 Koji Tsuchiya presented his finding of synchronous Qi-energy movement between the hypnotherapy healer and the subject as detected by Continuous AMI. Based on his extensive study of Pranic Healing, Dr. Joie Jones talked about the importance of "cleanliness of the space" for healing efficacy. The final speaker of the day was Dr. William Tiller, who presented details of the study by using his Intention Host Device clearly demonstrating that human "intention" causes the nature of physical space to change, and presented his "Deltron-Theory" as an attempt to explain this observation.

The Sunday morning session was dedicated to Device Presentations; Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field therapy device (MRS-2000) by Mr. Marcel Wolfe of MediConsult, Micro-current Therapy Device (Electro-Acuscope & Myopulse) by Mr. John Thorp of Thorp Institute of Integrated Medicine, Binaural beat device (PAL) by Dr. Kieth Scott-Mumby of Alternative-Doctor.com, and Electro-Interstitial Scan device (ES Teck PsyTek_Subtle energy wd_July.2011Complex) by Dr. Gaetan Chevalier & Ms Tiffany Barsotti of Psy-Tek Laboratory. Devices were exhibited and demonstrated throughout the Seminar/Workshop so that the participants could go around asking questions or experiencing them and form their own opinions during breaks.

There were active questions and exchange of views during the Q&A session after each presentation. Discussions continued over coffee and lunch breaks filling the CIHS hall and corridors with the feelings of excitement and keen interest.

We, organizers, received words of appreciation from many people, who said they would be keenly looking forward to the next Seminar/Workshop.

2.Special Lectures by Two Pioneers of Subtle Energy Research

Following the above Bio-energy Seminar/Workshop, the Special Lectures by Pioneers of Subtle Energy Research were presented by Dr. William Tiller, Rev. Kazuhiro Motoyama, and Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama. First, Dr. Tiller reviewed the paradigm shifts inDr. Tiller at Subtle Energy WS2011

philosophy of science and described some of the key experiments of his own that demonstrated the involvement of subtle energy beyond the paradigm of conventional science. He then presented his unique model of reality consisting of a conjugate of conventional space and reciprocal space which are normally uncoupled but can be coupled by human intention.

GonGuji_Subtler Energy WS2011Rev. Motoyama presented his view of what directed Dr. Motoyama's scientific studies and how they should be positioned within the totality of Dr. Motoyama's personal spiritual experience, philosophical quest, and the attempt to provide scientific basis for the reality of multi-dimensional constitution of human being.

Following his own son's talk, Dr. Motoyama explained primarily the science of the AMI, the device of his own invention, which is uniquely capable of measuring the ki-energy conditions in human meridian system.

Most people attended the two events consecutively. AltogetherDr. Motoyama Subtle Energy WS.2011 about 100 people were here with us, including the general participants, speakers and their spouses, device exhibitors and their associates, invited guests and us organizers. This was a record turnout in recent history of CIHS events. We thank everybody who participated in these events and helped make them both highly successful. Our efforts paid off more than what we expected and we are very encouraged to carry on with the pursuit for new breakthroughs in healing and energy.

Our heartfelt thanks to you all!

Toshiaki Harara, Ph.D.
