Dear CIHS Community Members,
Happy February! Unbelievably, one month has already passed since we celebrated the New Year. Our February newsletter has 2 articles: one is from Dr. Hope Umansky regarding the success of our New Year's community get-together on January 14 and our plans for future community events, and the other is from Dr. Toshiaki Harada, who is excitedly announcing our upcoming Workshop/Seminar on Bio-Energy Detection & Measurements scheduled for March 19 & 20. The CIHS faculty and staff are thrilled to be hosting renowned speakers in the field. Seats are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot now if you are interested by emailing Tamiko Voros(admin@cihs.edu ).
In our upcoming March newsletter, we will be announcing the course schedule for the spring quarter, which starts March 14. We have interesting and timely courses planned so please stay in touch with us to ensure you receive the most updated information about CIHS' academic and research activities. Reflections on the CIHS New Year's Open House
Although we are already one month into the New Year, we, the administration at CIHS, had the pleasure of hosting an open house that brought the community together in celebration.  We welcomed over 45 faculty, past, current, and prospective students, and members of our research and workshop community. It was a vibrant evening of like-minds, and it was wonderful to see the community open up and celebrate the progressive work that we do in subtle energy studies, comparative religion, and of course, psychology.
In fact, it was such a success, and it was so interesting to learn about everyone's practices, whether healer, therapist, or other practitioner in the field that we decided to harness all of that positive energy into an annual open house networking event. After each New Year, our plans for future events will include the casual social energy of the potluck dinner with an  opportunity for networking your business or healing practice in a community of like-minds. In the spirit of our open house and establishing a dynamic community, I welcome you to come by and say hello to us in the office. If you know of someone in the community who may appreciate the opportunity our unique graduate programs, workshops, and research projects afford, please feel free to give them my email at hope_umansky@cihs.edu. . We look forward to a year of ever-expanding growth into the community and to seeing you next year.

Seminar/Workshop:
Bio-energy Detection and Measurement We are pleased to announce an exciting Seminar/Workshop scheduled for the weekend of March 19-20. This is the first of the three major events on subtle energy research we plan to hold this year. As done in July last year, this event is jointly organized by CIHS and CBS (Center for Bio-field Sciences headed by Dr. Thornton Streeter).
We have been very fortunate to receive increasing support from many esteemed professionals in this area of new science. Among the speakers scheduled this time, we are particularly excited about having two eminent professionals, Dr. Beverley Rubik and Dr. Claude Swanson. They are both members of the Board of Directors of The International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM). They also play important roles in various other committees and academic societies. Dr. Rubik, Ph.D. in Biophysics, is the founder and president of the Institute for Frontier Science. She has conducted a number of research projects on human bio-field and energy medicine with unswerving passion to establish their scientific basis for healthcare. Dr. Claude Swanson is a physicist with strong spiritual emphasis. He is best known for his books, Synchronized Universe Series, which he wrote based on years of research and first-hand experiences. His 2nd in this series, entitled "Life Force, The Scientific Basis," published last year, truly gives a comprehensive picture of the frontline science of Energy Medicine, Healing, Qi and Quantum Consciousness.
Day 1 of the workshop will begin with Dr. Rubik's 90-minute keynote lecture. Day 2 will start with Dr. Swanson's 90 min opening lecture on "Life Force." The two-day event will be rich in content with a number of inspiring presentations followed by a live demonstration of various scientific instruments which are essential for the bio-energy research including the AMI (both continuous and snapshot), GDV, Medical IR Imaging, Electrophotonic Imaging, among others.
