Seminar/Workshop: Bioenergy Devices & Research
Toshiaki Harada, Ph.D.
A
two-day seminar/workshop titled "Bioenergy Devices & Research" was held at
CIHS on July 10-11, 2010. This event was jointly organized by CIHS and Dr.
Thornton Streeter, founder and CEO of the Center for Biofield Sciences. Dr.
Streeter has been active in this field with unswerving confidence that it serves
to integrate the medical knowledge and practice of the East and West. He is the
key member of the "Energy Medicine Instrumentation Investigation Committee" of
the National Foundation for Alternative Medicine and has extensively lectured
at a number of international conferences.
Many
people attended this seminar/workshop. Some people saw our website flyer and
came all the way from outside the state of California, including the east
coast, to participate in this event. Including organizers' own staff total turnout counted was 61. There were
active questions and answers for each presentation. People flocked together to continue
discussions and share information during the coffee and lunch breaks. Everyone
was excited about this emerging science and was keenly interested in learning about
what new findings are being made at its frontline.
Day
1 was for the studies by bioenergy devices other than the AMI. Day 2 was for researches conducted by the AMI.
Presenters
of Day 1 were:-
1) Dr.
Melinda Connor, President, Energy Healing Foundation Director,
Optimal Healing Research Program, University of Arizona Faculty,
Langara College, Vancouver 2) Dr.
Mary Clark & Mr. Bob Hertz, Clinical Psychologist and Director, Pranic
Healing San Diego 3) Dr.
Thornton Streeter, Founder and CEO, Center for Biofield Sciences 4) Dr.
Joie Jones, Professor of Radiology Dept., University of California, Irvine 5) Mrs.
Carol Chandler, healing practitioner, Florida
After
the welcome address and opening speeches by the two sponsors, Dr. Melinda
Connor gave a keynote presentation based on her experiences with various devices
including Gas Discharge Visualization (GDV), Biophoton Imaging System,
Laser-Doppler Perfusion Imager, Triaxial ELF Magnetic Field Meter, RF Field
Strength Meter, X-ray & g-ray detectors, etc
highlighting their capabilities and limitations. Dr. Mary Clark and Mr. Bob Hertz talked about
what GDV can show and presented the cases of her clients monitored by GDV. Dr.
Streeter showed examples of biofield observation by Polycontrast Interference
Photography (PIP), GDV, Thermograph, etc suggesting their potential usefulness
as markers of the human biofield. Dr. Joie Jones presented his research on two
topics; ultrasonic visualization of acupuncture points and study of Pranic Healing effects on life
expectancy of g-ray
exposed human cells. Dr. Joie Jones has been recognized as the first scientist
who observed the morphological change of acupuncture point in response to
external stimuli applied to the acupuncture points. Ms Carol Chandler presented
her unique software for the interpretation of IR Thermograph and its
applications.
Live
demonstrations of PIP, GDV, IR Thermograph, Triaxial ELF Magnetic Field Meter, RF
Field Strength Meter, etc followed the lectures, and many people were seen lining
up for their turn to be tested by each
of these devices.
Day
2 presenters were as follows;-
1) Dr.
Toshiaki Harada, Vice President & Dean of Life Physics, CIHS 2) Dr.
Gaetan Chevalier, former Director of Research, CIHS 3) Dr.
Koji Tsuchiya, Senior Researcher & Project Director, CIHS (1st
presentation) 4) Dr.
Shin Lin, Professor of Biomedical Engineering & Integrative Medicine,
University of California, Irvine 5) Dr.
Koji Tsuchiya, Senior Researcher & Project Director, CIHS (2nd
presentation)
Dr.
Harada first lectured on the principle of the AMI measurement covering both physical
and physiological implications of the three parameters (BP, AP & IQ). Following his talk, Dr. Chevalier presented
the study of differences in Ki-energy by meridians among different races based on the analysis of total 4,500 subjects. It was indicated that the Japanese, Asians and Hispanics have an active functioning of the meridians related
to digestive organs, while Caucasians are more active in those related to the circulatory system.
Dr.
Tsuchiya presented a case study of the Reconnective Healing performed on a male
subject who had his lower body emaciated and was unable to move around without
a walker. The AMI data before the healing indicated large upper/lower imbalance
of Ki-energy with significant deficiency in the lower body. As the healing sessions
proceeded, the AMI data showed progressive correction of the imbalance
resulting in re-vitalization of the lower body. Dr. Tsuchiya related in passing
that he witnessed the subject standing up and walking slowly without the walker
immediately after the last healing session.
Dr.
Tsuchiya presented another case study of the Pranic Healing applied for a
female subject who had a breast cancer. Before the healing trial a significant
upper/lower imbalance was detected clearly indicating substantial excess of Ki-energy
in the lower body. However, as the healing sessions progressed, this
upper/lower imbalance was seen to be reversed. This reversal of imbalance by
healing is unusual and rare, but was later found "consistent" with the intention
of the cancer treatment protocol of the Pranic Healing, which was to deplete
the lower chakras and energize the upper chakras.
Dr.
Shin Lin presented his studies on the effects of Tai Chi by combined usage of
the Continuous AMI, Laser-Doppler Blood Flow Meter, Biophoton Counter, etc. He
found that for the vertical circular movement of the arms, blood flow and BP of
the AMI were strongly correlated changing in phase, but not necessarily so when
the arms were moved faster. He further presented the differences in the effects
of Fast Tai Chi, similar to Karate motions, and Slow Tai Chi. It was shown that
the slow Tai Chi was more effective in achieving well-balanced increase of body's
bioenergy than the fast Tai Chi.
After
the research presentations, Dr. Tsuchiya and his students performed a live demonstration
of the AMI experiment. A subject, volunteer from the audience, lay on a massage
table and AMI electrodes were installed. Standard AMI measurement was first
performed to identify which particular meridian was most deficient in Ki-energy
among the 14 meridians. Then, a certified acupuncturist inserted a Japanese
acupuncture needle at the Source Point on the right side of this particular
meridian. Time dependent changes of the three AMI parameters (BP, AP & IQ)
were monitored by the Continuous AMI from 10 minutes before the needle
insertion till 20 minutes after. The graphs were projected on the wall real
time for everyone to see. From the moment the needle was inserted the AP showed
dramatic increase indicating strong sympathetic nervous response throughout the
entire body system. Of all the meridians right Lung Meridian was observed to
increase from a few minutes after the needle insertion. The live experiment was thus successfully
demonstrated.
As
organizer of the Seminar/Workshop, we are pleased that so many people of
different backgrounds, e.g., research scientists, other professionals, healing
practitioners, students and lay persons, came and participated and that the
event was much appreciated by everyone. We plan to organize a similar event in July 2011.
