In this newsletter, I would like to describe my impression from ISSSEEM's 19th annual conference I attended last month. The ISSSEEM stands for International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies & Energy Medicine. At the conference, I had a chance to meet and talked to some of the keynote speakers, who have been closely associated with CIHS, such as Dr. William Tiller, Dr. Claude Swanson and Dr. Beverly Rubik. I will go into detail later.
The ISSSEEM is a non profit organization that promotes understanding research and application of the subtle energies. Their goal is to bridge science and spirit. The ISSSEEM has held an international conference to introduce the concept and the new studies of subtle energies and energy medicine, including many healing techniques and advanced technologies measuring the human body's different types of energies. The19th Annual Conference called "Sacred Synthesis: Science with Heart" was held, between June 26th and July 1st in Denver, CO, suburbs. Over 500 people from all over the world participated in the Conference. Many were physicians, psychologists, physicists, healers, therapeutic practitioners, researchers, and all others interested in exploring subtle energies and energy medicine. Among the keynote speakers, there were Deepak Chopra, Lynne McTaggart who is an author of The Field and The Intention Experiment, Dr. William Tiller, Dr. Claude Swanson, and Dr. Beverly Rubik.
Dr. Claude Swanson, a Physicist and a Director of the Synchronized Energy Institute in Colorado Springs, introduced a new theory of wave energy called "Torsion Waves," developed by a Russian astrophysicist, Dr. Nikolai Kozyrev. According to Dr. Kozyrev, this wave energy traces a spiraling path, with a non-electromagnetic structure, which indirectly affects the creation of biophotons. The most interesting idea is that human thoughts and feelings might actually generate torsion energy waves, which may identify human consciousness as a primary creator of the phenomena around us. Dr. Swanson's new book, which describes the theory in detail is coming soon. (For more information, please see
http://www.synchronizeduniverse.com). Several years ago, Dr. Swanson visited CIHS and met Dr. Motoyama. He was the guest speaker at the 2006 CIHS graduation ceremony, which happened to be my graduation. While at the Conference, I was honored that he remembered the CIHS graduation and "me". Dr. Swanson also recommended that I contact Dr. Joie Jones, a Professor of Radiological Sciences at UC Irvine. He has investigated, using scientific methods as well as fMRI, acupuncture meridians & acu-poins and the effect of Pranic Healing. Those valuable connections with such vigorous scientists, I believe, must help CIHS make widely progress in the subtle energy research.
Dr. Beverly Rubik is a President and Founder of the Institute for Frontier Science in Oakland, CA and has dedicated to pursuing the cutting edge of science, including subtle energy; energy medicine; healers and other complementary medical interventions. During her seminar, Dr. Rubik demonstrated a new direction for research and experimental protocols for conducting accurate research. She concluded that "Living system is always changing. Nothing remains the same stage" and emphasized how the intent, belief and emotions of the experimenter impact the outcome of an experiment. Dr. Rubik also explained the limitations of Conventional research methodology, when applied the subtle energy research. What I realized now is we should take into account the role of all participants' consciousness in the experiment. This information must be important factor to researchers conducting experiments in subtle energy field. For additional information, Dr. Rubik was a former adjunct faculty at CIHS and presented lectures and workshops, e.g. "Bioenergy Field Research Application." In this Conference, we discussed experimental designs for the subtle energy research, as well as the present state of AMI research at CIHS. Dr. Rubik also showed her interest in teaching again at CIHS, which is a good opportunity for CIHS students to study on the frontier of science.
Finally, I would like to share two episodes that made me realize again how the 30-year long history of the AMI has fostered the recognition of its feasibility to detect the human subtle energy. The AMI is clearly a longstanding and viable measuring device in the world.

During the Conference, I had a chance to talk to Dr. William Tiller after luncheon speech. Dr. Tiller is a world-renowned scientist, who is an old friend of Dr. Motoyama and an Academic Program Consultant in Life Physics at the CIHS. He asked me how Dr. Motoyama is doing and told me of a good memory between them. I heard from David, who is an acupuncturist from Canada to whom Dr. Tiller recommended use of AMI, when David asked him for a testing device to examine Ki energy flow in his clinic.

At my table for a lunch on the last day, beside me there sat Dr. Roger Taylor from England. Dr. Taylor is a known worldwide immunologist and has pursued his study and research, with particular interests in quantum biology as well as subtle fields including a research into the effects of pyramids. We talked a lot about our own research and were so absorbed in talking that we almost forgot the passage of time. Surprisingly, he knew our AMI and had an experience to use it almost 20 years ago in London. We promised to keep in touch and find a possibility to collaborate in the future.
This ISSSEEM conference convinced me that the research of subtle energy and energy medicine is now closer to the domain of the mainstream science, approaching subject of interdisciplinary studies. I also came to realize that our advanced science is beginning to prove that we are more than our physical realm, based upon a fundamental shift on the premise of discoveries from numerous research. Consequently, attending the Conference inspired me to be involved in subtle energy research and encouraged me to explore the scientific research of human nature, as the synthesis of Body-Mind-Spirit.
