Dear Newsletter Readers,

Happy Halloween!

In this newsletter, we have presented Dr. Motoyama speech at our 12th Graduation Ceremony and also new vice president address.

The new vice president, Dr. Toshiaki Harada, received his doctorate degree in Physics from University of Hawaii and he worked at Dr. Motoyama's research center in Tokyo as a researcher thirty years ago.

At Dr. Motoyama's center, Dr. Harada planed and completed many research projects under Dr. Motoyama, which are published in Dr. Motoyama's books and other journals. Those include experiments with liquid crystal to show the propagation of ki (qui) energy in the specific meridians and epidermis stripping experiments to verify where in the skin structure the electric current initially runs. This research is very fundamental to Dr.Motoyama's philosophy in mind-body-spirit research and CIHS principles. CIHS is very fortunate to have Dr. Harada who has experience in this field of research and well being versed in Dr.Motoyama's philosophy to help CIHS to continue to expand in subtle energy research.

Since his appointment from October 2008, he has reorganized the CIHS system of administration as well as the research program. We will inform you of further changes in future CIHS newsletters.

Congratulation from my heart to all graduate from CIHS today.

Through writing your masters or Ph.D. dissertation, reading many books and thinking deeply about them, you could understand what academic learning is. What you learned through writing dissertations will have a big influence on your living direction directly or indirectly from now on.

I will explain my case for one example. I wrote my philosophical dissertation about the German philosopher Schelling's "die menschliche freiheit"  (Human
Freedom,), reading his original German book.  He is very unique among many German idealism philosophers, he also insists on the importance of realism, and explained that the human freedom and physical and mental functioning is limited not infinite. Another famous German idealist philosopher, Kant understands deeply and clearly that what humans can know is based on sensual perception even though through this perception conceptualization and construction of a thought, based on those concept according to transcendental categorization has been constructed, but whether these thought is real or not is unclear, the essence of a being or thing is beyond our perception and speculation, and exist on human existence, that is "Ding an sich".

In this "Ding an sich" beyond our human perception and knowledge, we might consider of the limitation of science and mathematics which were rising to power.

At present, human activities, no matter science, economics, and politics, believing in the assumed human ability more than the human real abilities are  shown in many areas such as inabilities which cause many conflicts and which is changing even the natural environment and atmosphere.

Now, we should understand more deeply what human beings really are.

After having finished my graduate dissertation almost 60 years ago, I realized that the truth must be coincident with the reality in each being dimension. If not, even though no contradiction in a logic system or process which often mathematical insists on, all is virtual not real. Based on this conviction, in order to experience and realize the physical, spiritual, purusha worlds, and furthermore God.  I have been practicing many strict disciplines, like two weeks fasting, no sleep, 10 hours meditation, waterfall ascetic practice for over 10 years, and step by step evolved to the spiritual world, purusha and finally unification with God.

Rising up or evolving into different being worlds, I could realized that in each being dimension, existence of each dimension differ each other, and from others in being, form, function, cognition and creativity.

I tried to verify objectively or scientifically even indirectly the being of these different dimensions through my invention the AMI and the other final and sharp amplifier, with greater sensitivity and a better S/N ratio than usual EEG, GSR etc.

Through these mystical experiences and scientific verification of subtle energy flowing in meridians, I believe even indirectly I could verify scientifically the existence of meridian, ki energy, spirit and purusha with their very powerful creative energy, different from physical energy and with love embracing and supporting all things.

The above restrict religious and scientific effort to realize these facts as truth has been founded by my graduate dissertation of 60 years ago. I believe your dissertation give all of you a direction for your future life both directly and indirectly.

Thank you

New Dr.Toshiaki HaradaVice President's Address

I worked for Dr. Motoyama at his institute in Tokyo as a research assistant from late 1975 till early 1981. Those 4 years proved extremely important in my life. I learned many things that formed the basis of my views of life and world, which remained unchanged ever since. I cannot thank Dr. Motoyama enough for that.
I left the institute because I got married. I moved into industry for better paying jobs. Since then for over 30 years I had been in business world and experienced progressively expansive roles from R&D scientist, R&D Management, Business Development, Sales & Marketing, Business Management and General Management, mostly in highly competitive, technology-driven businesses. Immersed in such mundane worlds for so long it never occurred to me that I'd work for Dr. Motoyama's lofty spiritual goal once again 30 years later.
Nevertheless, life has unexpected, yet important, surprises in store for each one of us. Lo and behold, when I realized it, I am already here in Encinitas, California, to work for CIHS.
I do appreciate the mission and principles of this school very much. Indeed what can be more fundamental to us humans than true understanding of multi-dimensional nature of our being, i.e., awareness of not only the visible and superficial but also the invisible and deep-rooted? Holistic viewpoint and value system based on factual knowledge of the Body-Mind-Spirit should pervade the world and lead us to genuine spiritual civilization. The integral principle of CIHS is aimed at just this goal.
Dr. Motoyama's approach has been to build it not by subjective experience or philosophical thought alone, but, more importantly, by creating and presenting compelling, rigorous scientific evidences. I believe CIHS is unique in this respect, especially the emphasis on Life Physics Program and Research, along with other equally important Programs built on the guiding principles.
Let us together press on to fuller embodiment of this lofty ideal of Dr. Motoyama. Let me say humbly that I am personally committed to it as the very last mission in my professional career.
My colleagues, faculty members, students and whoever feels "resonant" with the mission and principles of CIHS, please kindly join me in this challenge.
Thank you.
