Truckee's Premier Fine Art Gallery features the works of local Truckee artists Elizabeth and Olof Carmel. The newly opened Carmel Gallery is located near the Truckee Hotel at 10035 Church Street. The Carmel's purchased the historic Schaffer house, built in 1895 by one of Truckee's founders, and are renovating the building to restore it's historic appearance. The Carmel Gallery is on the ground floor of this historic building. The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 to 5, Sundays from 11-3,  and on  Tuesdays and Wednesdays it is open by appointment only.

Elizabeth and Olof Carmel are Sierra-based photographers specializing in unique and expressive landscapes of the natural world. Their prints combine dramatic photography, vivid colors, and artistic touches to create new, captivating visions of the natural world. All of their work is printed as museum quality  pigment prints using archival inks and printing materials.

Elizabeth is the author of the recently released best selling  book "Brilliant Waters, Portraits of Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and the High Sierra". Signed copies of her book are available for purchase at the gallery.  Using a 39 megapixel Hasselblad camera, her work emphasizes incredible detail,  extraordinary composition and unparalleled color and tonal range. Prints are  available in small, exclusive limited editions of 50.

Olof is an award winning photographer and a best selling artist in the galleries that represent him.  He uses a Canon 5d, Nikon d3, and Panasonic Lumix cameras and emphasizes color and composition in his work.
He enjoys adding texture and mood to his images by the use of selective filters and alternative focusing/sharpening methods both in the field and in the post processing of the image. His popular images are printed on watercolor paper and canvas and often appear more "painterly" than a typical photograph.   Prints are available in small open editions or as limited editions of 200.

New Fine Art Prints of "California Poppies" and "Yosemite Waterfalls" Are Now Available

This past March & April we had a wonderful bloom of wildflowers in the Sierra Foothills. There is an online portfolio of new prints from this spring's wildflower bloom at www.ElizabethCarmel.com. These new images are available as fine art prints from 20" to 100" wide.

In addition to new wildflower prints, there are also some new images from Yosemite at www.ElizabethCarmel.com. These images were taken in late February, when Horsetail falls is illuminated by the rays of the setting sun, creating an amazing scene of golden water against the shadows of El Cap. This is also the time of the year when early morning rainbows appear on upper Yosemite Falls. Both of these images are available as fine art prints from 20" to 100" high.

The Carmel Gallery Celebrates Earth Day with New Green Business Committment

We believe in the need for all businesses, regardless of their size, to adopt eco-friendly business practices. In order to share the steps the Carmel Gallery is taking to be more eco-friendly, we have added a page to www.TheCarmelGallery.com that outlines the "green business" practices we have adopted.

New Building Construction Underway

With the help of a friend and early snow melt in downtown Truckee,  Olof has been making good progress on the framing of our new gallery building.  Our local paper, Moonshine Ink, recently wrote an article about our gallery and how it fits in to the changing Truckee downtown scene:   Here is a link to the article: Moonshine Ink Article

Thanks for your interest in our work. Feel free to forward this email newsletter to others who might be interested.
