Truckee's Newest Fine Art Gallery features the works of local Truckee artists Elizabeth and Olof Carmel. The newly opened Carmel Gallery is located near the Truckee Hotel at 10035 Church Street. The Carmel's purchased the historic Schaffer house, built in 1895 by one of Truckee's founders, and are renovating the building to restore it's historic appearance. The Carmel Gallery is on the ground floor of this historic building. The gallery is open daily from 11 to 5, except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when it is open by appointment only.

Elizabeth Carmel is a Sierra-based photographer specializing in unique, expressive landscapes and "waterscapes". Her prints combine dramatic photography, vivid colors, and artistic touches to create new, captivating visions of the natural world. Elizabeth is the author of the recently released book "Brilliant Waters, Portraits of Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, and the High Sierra". Signed copies of her book are available for purchase at the gallery.

With a background in drawing and watercolor, Olof Carmel's fine art prints are more impressionistic in appearance and merge the reality of a photograph with the artistic expression of a painting. His popular and
colorful images are printed on watercolor paper and canvas and emphasize local and Sierra Nevada scenery. Olof's award winning work was recently
selected for display in the California State Capitol.

Large Framed Prints on Fine Art Paper Are Now Available from the Carmel Gallery

We have recently completed a few large  fine art paper prints that incorporate custom matts printed with the image. This allows us to create and frame large fine art paper prints (up to 80" x 44"). Previously we were able to offer only unframed stretched canvases in the larger 60" x 40" sizes. The images are treated  with Premier Art Print Shield and are framed, with no glass or extra matt needed. These new prints are now on display at our gallery. Please contact the Carmel Gallery if you are interested in learning more about this new display option.

JOIN US FOR THE
SEASONS OF MARTIS &
TRUCKEE'S WINE WALK & SHOP

In October, 2007, the North Tahoe/Truckee arts community joins with the Truckee Donner Land Trust to present "Seasons of Martis," a month-long, multi-venue exhibition celebrating Martis Valley. The valley encompasses 45,000 acres on both sides of Highway 267 between Truckee and Kings Beach. It is one of the largest intact, undeveloped areas in the region and has been the focus of recent conservation and development efforts. From Oct. 4- Oct. 29, Truckee Gallery, Carmel Gallery, Riverside Studios, Carol Sesko Gallery, and North Tahoe Arts will exhibit regional artworks and natural history displays that tell the Martis Valley story. The opening reception for the Seasons of Martis Exhibit at Carmel Gallery will be on October 6 2007 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. The Truckee Donner Land Trust will also be on hand at the event with information about the effort to protect the Martis Valley from development.

Also on October 6 from 12:00 to 4:00, The Carmel Gallery will be participating in the annual Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop event. The Carmel Gallery will be partnering with wineries ranging from Napa to the nearby Sierra foothills and area restaurants will offer scrumptious food samples. Tickets may be purchased online at www.WineWalkShopTruckee.com or by calling (530) 584.1442

Thanks for your interest in our work. Feel free to forward this email newsletter to others who might be interested.
