AGPA Honors CANY
AGPA Award, Hilton, Swiller

CANY was honored with the 2012 Aaron Stein Memorial Fund Award by The American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) during the Foundation sponsored Conference Luncheon on March 10th at The Sheraton Towers.

Dr. Hillel Swiller, CANY Advisory Council Member, nominated CANY for the award.  Executive Director Jonathan Hilton, (right, with Swiller) had this to share, "Our drama therapy model is based on the belief that all healing occurs in relationship, so the group therapy process is core to our work.  Thus we are truly honored to receive this recognition from the AGPA."

The Aaron Stein Memorial Fund Award is given annually to honor the memory of Aaron Stein, a pioneer in group psychotherapy and an inspiring teacher. The award recognizes organizations that utilize the creative applications of group theory and technique to benefit the community, particularly in non-psychotherapeutic settings.

Drama As Therapy

As we mentioned in the January edition of the CANY E-News, CANY has returned to Connecticut to participate in a Learning Collaborative.

Following our success in 2011-2012,
CANY is eager to collaborate with a new group of Connecticut-based agencies in 2012-2013.  CANY welcomes teams from agencies that provide Community Based Behavioral Health Services, namely Extended Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Programs.

Join us for a free information session on Friday, March 30th
at the Department of Department of Children & Families Southern Training Academy.  CANY trainers will share a taste of things to come through presentation and experiential exercises.
