Tennis Community Update Susan Flanagan, Community Coordinator
I want to thank all of you who helped make the Fall SMASH Junior Team Tennis and Quick Start program such a great success! We have over 400 junior players who participated this fall in many very exiting matches. The USTA uniforms look very impressive and breed energy and excitement on the courts, and all the juniors handled themselves in the true spirit of the game. We have the final tournament at Millbrook this weekend so please come out and watch some great tennis and support all of our Junior teams which have worked so hard all season.
Even though the tournament will wrap up this Fall Season, it doesn't mean we are taking a break until spring. We encourage junior players of all ages to come out and play tennis all winter long. Quick Start programs (ages 10 and under) are starting all over Raleigh. This exciting format is giving younger junior players the tools they need to build on for full court play. Smaller courts, smaller racquets, and slower balls lead to confident and skilled junior players.
If you get a chance, please try out the USTA Quick Start Format this winter, and get ready for a even more successful spring. Spring registration begins for QuickStart and SMASH December 1st. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have regarding the Junior program at susankflanagan@aol.com.
