RE: Update on California Caregiver Resource Centers
|Dear Supporter of the California Caregiver Resource Centers:|
Thank you for joining over 3,000 other people who signed the petition asking Governor Brown and the California Legislature to continue funding the Caregiver Resource Centers.
We are writing with some good news. Tomorrow (April 12th), Subcommittee #3 of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee will hold a hearing, and the elimination of the CRC's is on the agenda. We are happy to report that in the agenda, the Subcommittee staff recommended against the proposal to eliminate the CRC's.
Their recommendation cites an analysis by the Legislative Analyst's Office that found the elimination of the CRC's was "somewhat at odds with the Governor's Coordinated Care Initiative to provide better coordinated care for seniors and persons with disabilities in order to reduce fragmentation in the state's long-term care services continuum."
We are excited about this good news.
However, we still need your help in the coming months as the budget process continues to move forward. We will keep you posted as soon as we have new information and we will need your help in making phone calls to your elected officials to ensure that California's budget isn't balanced on the backs of family caregivers.
