DEVELOPING THE YOUNG HORSE PART III
by: Lynn Palm, Palm Partnership Training (TM)
"The Goal-Riding Training Level, Test 1, Part 3"
In the article I will continue with exercises on the longe line to improve the rider's form and balance. Again, you will need a consistent, well-schooled horse to do these exercises which may mean you need a horse other than the one you are preparing for Training Level, Test 1. Remember to do each exercise slowly, to breathe while doing them, to think center-square-balanced, and to stop if you experience any pain.
Upper Body Exercises
These upper body exercises should be done on the longe. The equine professional or your helper should be in position, holding the longe line that is attached to the horse. (More) |
BREATHE LIFE INTO TRAINING
PART II
by: Jenny Rolfe, www.spanishdressagehorses.com
Harmony in Communication, Observing the Horse.
Harmony is borne from many hours spent observing,
listening and responding thus providing an environment, where both confidence and trust may flourish. You sometimes hear riders complaining about their horse, who has become difficult and uncooperative.
This may be manifested in objectionable, resistant
and sometimes potentially dangerous behaviour. The
horse may respond in a disruptive way, as a result of
being placed in a stressful situation, where he feels
anxious and insecure. Humans and animals respond to stress in many different ways. When our horse is
subject to our modern day expectations, this can cause anxiety for him. (more) |

Bellvale Dressage LLC was developed over the past decade as a dressage breeding and training facility by owner/trainer Beth Sproule-Hansen. Beth has been deeply embedded in the horse world for many years. She is certified with the USDF as a Dressage instructor through 4th level (highest certification offered). Beth is also a "L" Dressage Judge graduate and has her USDF Gold medal. In 2002 Bellvale's Oldenburg stallion DiVinci (Duellglanz/G-Dur/Lachs) gained National attention by winning his 100 day stallion test. Since then he has been successful at every level of dressage. DiVinci is now competing at the Grand Prix level with owner rider Beth Sproule-Hansen. Through careful attention and breeding quality mares, Bellvale Dressage has produced exclusively premium foals for the last five years! One of our main interests is putting a solid foundation on the young horses we produce to ensure they are ready to compete in Dressage or in the Hunter/Jumper world. Bellvale Dressage also offers outside training for clients. Training programs are customized for each client and horse. Consistency and professionalism are key to our many clients who have evolved into part of the Bellvale family!
