Greetings and welcome to the April 2009 newsletter!

The team have been firing on all cylinders in the past few months busily collating all of the new information received via our website, relating to '1421' and '1434'. We have placed this up on our website, and would appreciate any feedback. We are aware that some of the information is by no means complete and further research is needed, but we are most grateful to all the contributors for sharing their finds with us.

We are also pleased to announce that our new scientific research protocol is now up and running. The Chinese Maritime Research Initiative has been kindly set up by Mark Newell, an underwater archaeologist based in the U.S.A.

In Mark's words, "This organization will bring scientific methodology to the process of developing data on the entire question of the date and range of Chinese maritime exploration. I have now formed a steering committee of professionals who will work with me to create the organizational structure and, at the same time, develop a research design for scientific investigation..."

We are grateful to Mark for his help and look forward to acquiring some solid new evidence in the coming months.

We are delighted that Charlotte Harris Rees' research is getting more and more attention over time. She is coming to London and is due to give a speech on April 21st at the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies. Charlotte's book, Secret Maps of the Ancient World will be at the London Book Fair that week.  Furthermore she is due to give a speech at the National Library of China, Beijing on July 10th. She would love to see you at any of these events.

There are also some major new happenings in her research that she will be announcing soon. For more information please visit www.HarrisMaps.com
As always, we appreciate your comments and suggestions and look forward to hearing from you soon.

With best wishes for a Happy Easter!
The 1421 / 1434 team
