Greetings and welcome to the 1421 October 2006 newsletter!

We are sorry for the delay in getting this newsletter out to you - we have been swamped with work as usual - it has been a busy summer!

PHOENIX TV DOCUMENTARIES
A press conference was held in early July to celebrate the joint production of a series of television documentaries by Phoenix Television, one of Hong Kong's biggest television broadcasters, and the 1421 team. The press conference was held in the Painted Hall at Greenwich, where the body of the great Admiral Nelson of the Nile lay in state after his glorious victory at Trafalgar in 1805. Plans are afoot for a series of programmes, which will study all the possibilities of Zheng He's fleets exploring the New World. We hope to have programmes focused on North America, South America and Australasia, ready for broadcast next year.

CHINESE VERSION OF 1421 WEBSITE
Coupled with this exciting news was the launch of the Chinese version of the 1421 website. This can be found at: http://1421.phoeni xtv.com
The site has already gained a considerable audience, and we hope it will continue to expand in the same way as the English version. We look forward to all the exciting possibilities that this will open up in the future.

ABC “FOUR CORNERS”: DOCUMENTARY ATTACKS 1421
Sadly we weren't so lucky with an ABC Four Corners television documentary, made in July this year. We and many visitors to our website believe the show was heavily biased against us - so much so that we have decided to take legal action. The programme did not show any of the interviews of the experts who agree with the 1421 theory, and as can be seen from the transcript and the web forum shown after the show, the moderator was not especially subtle in airing his dislike for 1421!

1421 MESSAGE BOARD RE-OPENED
We are delighted to say that we are opening up the 1421 message board again. We hope the board will generate interesting and lively debate, and hope you will join up! The message boards will be moderated closely by experts in their relevant fields. NEW EDITIONS OF 1421
We have been kept busy helping with several new editions of 1421, namely the French, the Brazilian, the Indonesian, the Hebrew and the Romanian editions! The French edition will be published by Editions Intervalles, we hope some time in the next 6 months. The Brazilian edition (Editora Bertrand Brasil), the Hebrew edition (Korim Publishing House) and the Indonesian edition (Pustaka Alvabet) will all be published next month, and we are pleased to have just signed up with The House of Guides for them to publish a Romanian edition some time next year.

NEW RESEARCH
Gavin and the team have been busy with research as usual. Gavin spent several weeks over the summer in France and Italy, visiting the Venetian Doge's Palace map room and Jean de Betencourts' chateau. The information gleaned from this trip will feature in a special postscript for the new French edition.

NEW REVISED EDITION OF 1421
We have decided now that our main focus for the next six months will be on preparing for the Phoenix documentaries and also a new revised edition of 1421. We hope that from all the new evidence we have gathered over the last four years that these will make exciting viewing and reading.
