Greetings and welcome to the 1421 June 2006 news bulletin.
We have an exciting few months ahead of us!
Paul Chiasson's book - Island of
Seven Cities
Interest in pre-Columbian Chinese exploration of America has led to this
becoming a best seller.
The Island of Seven Cities traces Paul's own journey
of discovery to the conclusion that Cape Breton Island was settled by Chinese
fleets years before John Cabot’s
1497 discovery of the island. Paul's website is up and running and may be viewed
at www.islandofsevencities.com
Phoenix Television
On 15th June, the chairman and CEO of Phoenix TV will hold a press conference
to announce that over the next 2 years, Phoenix will be making a series of
documentaries about Chinese voyages to the Americas before Columbus (notably
by Zheng He) in collaboration with the '1421 team'.
ABC of Australia
ABC start filming with Gavin in China this week, to produce
a 2 hour documentary to be broadcast in July / August.
The 1421 Exhibition
The exhibition is currently situated in Malacca, at the
Zheng He Cultural Museum. The Museum had its grand opening last week, and
we wish it every success.
It is hoped that the exhibition will move to South Africa at the end of the
year.
Press Conferences in Hong Kong
Last but not least we wanted to forewarn you
of Gavin's trip to China, where he will be participating in several press conferences
with Dr. Siu-Leung Lee.
Dr. Lee has found what he believes "... could be the most important and
definitive proof for Zheng He's crew setting foot on America..."
Gavin and Dr. Lee will talk at several august locations in Hong Kong, including the Royal Geographical Society, Hong Kong University and the Royal Yacht Club. They look forward to seeing you there! Their schedule has been posted on the 1421 website here.
Dr. Lee's press release will be posted on our website on 16th June.
Gavin then travels to Yunnan University where he has been elected a visiting professor. He will then return to London shortly after.
As always we look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions regarding our work.
Best wishes,
The 1421 team
