Yellowstone Association Receives $2 Million Challenge Gift

Representing one of the largest philanthropic contributions in the history of the Yellowstone Association, internationally-respected philanthropists Gale and Shelby Davis of Jackson, Wyoming, made a $2 million gift to the capital campaign. This generous donation was made in the form of a challenge grant to encourage members to help the Association meet its $11.2 million fundraising goal.

Gale and Shelby joined the Association in January 2003 and immediately took an interest in the Yellowstone Association Institute education programs. In September 2004, they attended a Legacy for Learning donor cultivation event which prompted their interest to get more involved with Yellowstone Association. By May 2005, Gale was elected to the Board of Directors and now serves as an active member of the Capital Campaign Steering Committee.

No strangers to exemplary acts of generosity, Gale and Shelby are notably recognized as the founders of the Davis United World College Scholars Program that supports the international education experience for hundreds of undergraduates at select American colleges and universities. Gale is a former board member of the Tuxedo Park School, currently serves as a board member for Maine Coast Heritage Trust and an honorary trustee for Friends of Acadia. Gale and Shelby's proven dedication towards education and the environment led them towards assuming a leadership position in the Yellowstone Association's capital campaign.

In the months to come, Gale and Shelby will promote their "Challenge" campaign providing opportunities for Yellowstone Association members to make contributions to the capital campaign. In turn, they will match each donation one-to-one up to $2 million. Contributions towards the Davis Challenge will support the Yellowstone Association's Legacy for Learning capital campaign with a focus to raise funds to convert the historic Hall's Mercantile in Gardiner, Montana, to an education headquarters for the Association.
If you would like to participate by making a contribution towards this exciting endeavor, please call Mary Dwyer, Director of Development, at 307-344-2292, or mail your contribution to:
