New Deputy Superintendents Named At Yellowstone
|
|
|
Two individuals with extensive experience in federal
service, resource protection and administration have
been selected to serve as Deputy Superintendents of
Yellowstone National Park.
Colin Campbell
currently serves as the Superintendent of Padre
Island National Seashore in Texas. He began his
National Park Service (NPS) career twenty-seven
years ago in Yosemite National Park. Campbell is no
stranger to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem,
having spent twelve years in Grand Teton National
Park as a Law Enforcement Specialist, Chief Ranger,
and as Acting Deputy Superintendent.
Christine
Lehnertz comes to the NPS from the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she is
the Director of the Ecosystems Protection Program in
Denver. Lehnertz began her environmental career as
a seasonal biologist in 1985 with the Colorado
Division of Wildlife. She also worked seasonally for
the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife
Service. Lehnertz joined the EPA in 1990.
Campbell and Lehnertz will fill expanded
roles
based on the duties of former Deputy Superintendent
Frank Walker, who retired this past summer.
Superintendent Suzanne Lewis believes this change
will enhance the park’s abilities to address the needs
of employees, visitors, and park resources.

Summer Lamar Volunteers Needed
|
|
|
Do you dream of living and working in Yellowstone
National Park? You might be the person that the
Yellowstone Association Institute needs. We are
looking for generous, hardworking individuals and
couples to support our educational programs.
Volunteers welcome and orient students, assist
instructors, drive course buses, and help operate
facilities. They also help keep Institute classes safe
and affordable, and contribute to an atmosphere of
curiosity, respect, and fun. Our volunteers are our
Yellowstone family, and many come back again and
again. They report these top three highlights 1)
Living in Yellowstone, 2) Being integrally involved in a
variety of field seminars, and 3) Sharing the
experiences with great people—students, instructors,
and other volunteers.
