Park Store at Canyon Provides New Level of Support for Yellowstone
|
|
|
On August 25, 2006 the Yellowstone Association’s
new Park Store at the Canyon Visitor Education
Center opened to the public. This professionally
designed, 1100 square foot store is helping the
Association increase its educational and financial
support for Yellowstone. Made possible through the
generosity of Legacy for Learning capital
campaign donors, the new store has already
exceeded expectations for sales and memberships.
More than 700 new members joined the Yellowstone
Association in the month of September at the
Canyon store. Sales of educational products,
especially geology-related books and materials, also
soared in the first month. Based on this early
success, we anticipate that the Canyon store alone -
the first of a new generation of redesigned stores in
the Park- will be able to return more than $100,000
to the National Park Service each year to support
education and research in Yellowstone.
