Darren Chiacchia Improving - Prognosis Still Unknown
Darren Chiacchia of Springville, NY and Ocala, FL suffered a serious fall, Saturday March 15, 2008, at the Red Hills Horse Trials in Tallahassee, FL. He suffered multiple rib fractures, a collapsed lung and a minor fracture to his left hand. He is progressing positively and is now breathing independently without a ventilator; however the extent of any brain or neurological injuries are undetermined at this time.

Equestrian Aid Foundation Sets Up Emergency Fund For Darren Chiacchia

Darren has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Equestrian Aid Foundation for several years and serves on our Ambassador Committee. His great energy and ideas have been of tremendous value to us!

We have set up an emergency designated fund in his name. You can

Grand Finale at the Dressage Affaire- Standing Ovation for Keenan and Pecorelli

HorsesDailyThe Grand Finale for the Dressage Affaire was a Saturday Brunch at ringside in the CDI arena. The program opened with a four man military salute to the US flag as KP Events' vice president Nikki Pecorelli sang the National Anthem, and later featured the FEI Junior and Young Rider and Grand Prix Freestyles.  

During a break in the schedule the crowd was thoroughly entertained by announcer Brian O'Connor's explanation and demonstration of the movements of dressage. Riding his inflatable horse, and dressed in top hat and shad belly, Brian demonstrated active versus labored canter pirouettes, piaffe and passage along with very amusing running commentary. Picnic Atmosphere Prevails at Welcome Back to White Fences II 

HorsesDailyLoxahatchee, Florida - At Welcome Back to White Fences II, held March 15-16, show host Ingred Lin got much more than praise. Along with all the wonderful comments about the show, Lin got a blue ribbon for her Intermediaire I win. "I was really happy because the horse came through for me," Lin said.

She took her win with a score of 65.25 percent on Quemacho HI, an 11-year-old Lusitano stallion sired by Embaxaidor. It wasn't an easy ride for Lin, who's recovering from cancer treatment. Being both show host and competitor takes a lot out of a person and Lin said by the time she entered at A, she was already drained. Read More...

Join us in the International Club as Dressage lights up the sky on Saturday night. Some limited front row tables are available for $600 for a table of six and individual seats, with indiviudal tickets for $85 per seat. All food and drink is included by Tavern on the Green.

Dressage will be center stage at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival with the CDI competition in one of the world's finest arenas and an end-of-season party to celebrate the Grand Prix musical freestyle under lights on Saturday, March 22. The Zada Enterprises WEF Dressage Classic CDI-3* that is a qualifying competition for the 2008 Grand Prix National Championship and Olympic Games Selection Trials will be staged in the International Arena and adjacent rings at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center March 20-23.

HorsesDailyWellington, FL - The bright lights of the International Arena at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL, showcased three teams in two rounds of competition on a very chilly Saturday night, March 8, with Team USA Purina Mills emerging as the winner of the 2008 Challenge of the Americas.
 
The USA team claimed second place in the High Jump and first place in the Musical Quadrille, which counted 40% and 60% respectively, giving the eight-member squad the victory after a spectacular dressage performance to a "Blue Angels" themed soundtrack. Read More...

HorsesDailyIn the Musical Quadrille phase, each team showcased six Grand Prix dressage riders performing rides to music scored by a panel of top judges: Linda Zang (O), Gary Rockwell (I), Anne Gribbons (O), Carol Lavell (R), and Lois Yukins (I), who all presided at 'C'.

The judges awarded scores from 1 to 10 in the following categories: Spacing, Alignment and Synchrony; Choreography; Harmony Between the Horse and Rider; Music Choice and Interpretation; and Impact. The phase counted for 60% of the score, with the points values set at 10, 7, and 5 for first, second, and third place respectively.
