In January, Vollrath Associates was hired by Air Show officials to handle all media relations for this past weekend's U.S. Bank Air & Water Show at Milwaukee's Lakefront and Bradford Beach June 11-13.  As many of you were watching the skies light up with action, we were assisting many of the local media with ongoing story coverage throughout the week.  Our PR efforts began in January to build excitement and awareness for the show and its performers and ended with a bang.  We received coverage in every local media outlet, including TV, radio, print and online.

And we didn't forget social media.  The VA team worked hard to interact with Air Show fans on Facebook and Twitter for the past five months leading up to the event weekend.  We held several trivia contests on Facebook where fans could participate and win VIP tickets to the show, an Air Show package from Marcus Hotels and other fun giveaways.  We updated all our fans with important, timely information, such as new performers, media coverage and stories, weather challenges and changes, photos and videos. We received numerous tweets and appreciative comments on Facebook from fans thanking us for our frequent tweets and Facebook updates.   Our ability to use social media as an outlet for instant feedback and information worked in times of crisis and laughter throughout the show weekend and we are glad that we were able to offer those sources of communication to our fans.

Our total publicity value for TV coverage alone from Wednesday, June 9 to Sunday, June 13 was $268,656. In terms of social media, we started with 217 Twitter followers in March and ended with a total of 608 followers on June 14.  We saw the largest increase in fans on Facebook.  In March we had a total of 414 fans and on June 14 we had a total of 1,471 fans.

This six month process was a team effort and huge success for our team.  We hope you enjoyed the Air show!!!!!
