Greetings!

This issue is written in loving memory of my sweet dad, Charles Kenneth Murphy (March 22, 1921 - March 30, 2012.) My tribute and three photos are in the last block. I will miss him hugely and dearly, but I'm thrilled that he is enjoying Jesus in heaven with my mom this Easter.

Some great news: Congratulations are in order for the President of our Men's Division, Pastor Jeff Jernigan, who graduated with his Ph.D. in Pastoral Ministry, with an emphasis in counseling and coaching!

Way to go, Dr. Rev. Jeff Jernigan!

Dad - Military          My Dad       Dad - Age 91

Charles Kenneth Murphy was born on March 22, 1921 in Evanston, Illinois. He died peacefully in his sleep of renal failure on March 30, 2012, at the age of 91, in La Palma, California. His wife of 49 years, Rosalie, preceded him in death in 1996. Charles is survived by his eight children: Chuck, Terri, Cathy, Katie, Paul, Maureen, Mark, and Dennis. Charles was a survivor of Pearl Harbor and WWII; he retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. (He and his wife and family were stationed all over the Pacific. They spent several tours in Hawaii, one tour on Kwajalein, and one in San Francisco; he retired in SO CA.) Following his military service, Chuck began his civilian career at Rockwell International, where, after 30 years, he retired as an Electronics Manufacturing Supervisor. Charles was a devout Catholic and a lay member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. A devoted husband who took care of his ailing wife full-time for six years, beloved father, two-time cancer survivor, imaginative storyteller, and tireless inventor, our father was ever true to his faith and family. He loved Jesus with all his heart, mind, body, and soul. We will always be comforted by the memory of his enduring faith, unfailing integrity, and adventurous spirit.

Thank you for the outpouring of prayers and love during this tough time.
