Greetings!
I'm excited to go to WY this month on Father's Day to watch my 32-yr-old son, Andy, run in his third 50-mile race! I don't know how he does it, but he loves it. Can't wait to see his marathoner wife, Jewels, and my two precious grandsons--one who is a birthday boy this month.
Things have been crazy in CA with my 90-year-old dad having three TIA's (mini-strokes) this month. Thank you for your continued prayers for him and all the tests he has to undergo. He has the greatest attitude in the world--excited about the possibility of going to heaven to see Jesus, but also wanting to be faithful to accomplish all God has for him to do on earth. My oldest brother will watch out for him while I'm gone from my duties as caregiver for a few days.
I've been invited to be a radio guest on HomeWord with Dr. Jim Burns on June 29 from 1-2pm to introduce my parent-teen Wired series. See Jim's endorsement below, along with a number of other reviews that just came in. Hope you can tune in.
COULD SURE USE YOUR HELP ON TYNDALE BOOK:
As you may know, I'm writing a 365-day life purpose devotional for the Tyndale recovery line. I could sure use your help on it in two ways, should you feel so led by the Holy Spirit to shoot me an email:
1. I need 52 quotes, one for each week of the year. I have approximately 40 so far, but I just noticed that they were mainly Christian males--authors, scholars, historical figures, etc. So...I need some quotes from strong Christian females like Beth Moore, Stormie, etc. Can you send me your favorite quote (any topic!) with the following source info: Book, Author, Publisher, Date, City/State, Page #?
2. I also need coaching tips from recovering alcoholics, shopaholics, gamblers, sex addicts, over-eaters, etc. Anybody qualifies because we are all recovering from something! Specifically, what ONE THING most helped you recover?! Must be specific in one way that you overcame your addiction, not generic about the love of Christ that pulled you through. No details are needed about your addiction.
Many thanks for whatever you can do to help!

As an educator and former youth minister who has worked with countless students, I know that they are searching for who they are and how they have uniquely been wired. These Wired resources couldn't have come at a better time. Today's teenagers long to discover and fulfill their distinct purpose, and who better than Dr. Katie Brazelton to guide them on that journey of self-discovery. Every student should have the opportunity to delve into these valuable resources; I have no doubt they will walk away with a clearer understanding of their uniqueness and life mission. Jennifer Bennett, MA Founder, www.mysoulmission.org Orlando, Florida
I'm so excited about this dynamic teaching series featuring two of my very good friends: Katie Brazelton, who created the content and wrote the accompanying devotional and parent book; and Josh Griffin, who will guide your students through this exciting journey each week on the DVD. Both of these folks are some of God's finest. This series has the potential to powerfully shape the course of your youth ministry as you, your leaders, and your students all discover and pursue your God-given missions. Get ready for the dynamic adventure that awaits! Doug Fields Bestselling Author and International Speaker - Youth Events
I have worked with teenagers for 26 years as a counselor and mentor. I have come to believe that the issue these products address-that of discovering God's purpose for their lives as individuals-is key to them growing into mature, godly adults. The material is presented in a way that is relevant, personal, and motivational. Including the parents in this discovery with the book, How Your Teenager Is Wired, is so critical to follow-through by the teens. I am using these materials with my clients and have enthusiastically recommended them to youth pastors I know, as well as parents of teens. Elaine F. Coleman, Professional Life Coach and Biblical Counselor Orlando, Florida
Finally, a tool (The Wired Series) has been created to guide teens in the discovery and fulfillment of their God-ordained life purpose. After 40 years in ministry (15 of those in student ministry), we have three fantastic resources for youth workers and parents to develop a deeper level of communication, relationship, and understanding of their teenagers and how they are wired. Linda McGee Graber Director of Ministry Development & Life Purpose Coach® Reverb Church At Parker, CO
The Way I'm Wired series provides a step-by-step guide for young people to define their values, examine their motives, and write a lifetime dream statement. Katie uses her unique gifts to provide a complete and easy-to-use set of tools for small groups, individual students, and parents. There are no better products on the market to help young people in their defining years! I am recommending them to everyone I know who has teenagers or works with teenagers. Janie MacBeth Retired Pastor, United Methodist Church Owner, Daybreak Connection Cantonment, FL
Identity-Connection-Direction: the three things our teens are desperately searching for. The Way I'm Wired provides youth with a spiritual blueprint to discover God's foundational truth about who they really are and what they have been called to do. Leslie B. Denman Executive Director/Founder Girls Living Life On Purpose, Inc. Dallas, TX
This book (How Your Teenager Is Wired) will change your relationship with your teenager(s) and help prepare them for a most meaningful life. Katie Brazelton is not only an expert in the field, but a wonderful mother and now grandmother with incredible ideas. I love this book. Exodus
Digging deeper into... Exodus 3:10, 20--21
Moses' Purpose: To lead God's people out of Egypt.
Background: God got Moses' attention by appearing to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement because the bush was engulfed in flames, but it didn't burn up. That day, God called Moses to a mighty task: to free the Israelites from Egyptian captivity.
The Call of Moses at the Burning Bush. "Now go, for I [God] am sending you [Moses] to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt. ...So I will raise my hand and strike the Egyptians, performing all kinds of miracles among them. Then at last he will let you go. And I will cause the Egyptians to look favorably on you. They will give you gifts when you go so you will not leave empty-handed" (Exodus 3:10, 20-21).
Reflection Questions:
1. What message have you received from God, even if it didn't involve a burning bush? For example, God showed up to tell you: I am God- and I love you, forgive you, miss you, caution you, am calling you, grieve with you, will protect you, or am proud of you.
2. Is God calling you to a mighty task? For example: free slaves who are captive to sin by praying for them; work with the homeless; write and sing songs that honor God; step up to a leadership role; do a spiritual fast from gossip, music, or shopping; launch a ministry. Why do you think that?
Prayer: God, give me the courage not to "pull a Moses" by echoing his words: "Lord, please! Send anyone else" (Exodus 4:13). Give me the grace to accept and enjoy my assignment.
EXODUS BONUS ROUND: Check out God's purpose for these people:
2:1-10-Moses' mother and his sister Miriam hid baby Moses, even though it meant risking death. (See Hebrews 11:23 about the faith and courage of Moses' parents when they saw that God had given them an unusual child.)
4:27-Aaron was called to "go out into the wilderness to meet Moses." Little did he know what tough assignment awaited him!
9:16-Pharaoh, a stubborn ruler, was even usable by God, who said of the obstinate man, "I have spared you for a purpose-to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth."
