Greetings!
It was 62 degrees on Sunday and guests sat on the porch after breakfast!  Spring can't be far away....in the meantime, we  invite you to stay warm in front of our fireplaces or in a whirlpool tub.
Jan has spent the month trying to learn about social networking and we now have a Facebook Page, a Blog and a page on Twitter.  We invite you to become a fan, a friend, sign up for a feed, post pictures, start a discussion, write comments or receive our tweets.  It's all new to us!  (And we welcome any tips on how to do it right!)

Whether you can get away now or not, remember that we think it's always time to celebrate with the one you love so our Forever Valentine Package is available year round.

Soon the mud sales will start (for more about them, read Lancaster From the Inn Side), and it will be time to search the nearby greenhouses or Weaverland Auction for annuals.  Their selection is outstanding and a great value.

Driving through farmland in the Weaverland Valley, on the outskirts of Terre Hill, you'll often see flocks of sheep in the fields.  Just before feeding time, they huddle together at the trough, waiting patiently for the farmer to appear with their food.

This daily ritual inspired All-You-Can-Eat-Baaffet, Bruce's latest limited edition, signed/numbered lithograph.  It was created as a companion piece for one of his favorite drawings, 100% Virgin Wool.

Chocolate Covered Romance Weekend - On February 27 and 28, we'll explore the sweeter side of Lancaster County. Join us as we gather for a "getting to know chocolate" party on Friday, tastings, culinary tours of local candy factories, special "chocolate" breakfasts, and an over-the-top chocolate-inspired dinner on Saturday night.  Pictured here is Bill Wertz of Wertz Chocolate - recently featured on Dirty Jobs on The Discover Channel.  We'll lunch at Cafe Chocolate and hear a special presentation about organic chocolate.  Dinner on Saturday night will be a four-course chocolate inspired feast specially prepared just for us at Carr's Restaurant in downtown Lancaster.  Cost is $150/person and covers everything, including transportation.  Park your car and hop on board for this fun culinary tour - see our Chocolate Page for details.

Amish Tour at The Artist's Inn
Amish Tour
- For the first time we are offering an Amish Tour - it will include culinary demonstrations, traveling to several Amish homes and learning how buggies are made.  We are sure you'll enjoy this behind-the-scenes look at several local businesses.  We'll spend the whole day together and the tour will include both lunch and dinner, and transportation.  Cost is $100/person.  See our Amish Page for details.

Tell your owners to email your cutest or funniest pictures to stay@artistinn.com!  Bruce is working on a new book featuring cats and needs more reference material.  Maybe Bruce will draw your picture!

Just in Time for Valentine's Day:

Macadamia Brownies

Make these for your Sweetie - they are yummy!
Chocolate Macadamia Bars

1 6-ounce package semisweet chocolate chips
2 squares or packages (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Dash of salt
1 cup chopped macadamia nuts
2 ounces white baking bar, chopped

In a medium pan or microwave-proof bowl, heat chocolate pieces, unsweetened chocolate and butter over low heat until melted, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat and cool for ten minutes.  Stir in sugar, add eggs and vanilla and beat by hand.  Mix dry ingredients together and add to the chocolate mixture.  Fold in nuts and white chocolate.  Spread batter in a buttered (or silicone) 9 x 9 pan.

Bake for 30 minutes in a 350 oven.  Cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.  Makes 16 bars.  Enjoy!
If or when your world gets a little hectic, remember that we are only a short drive away.  The rolling hills, clip-clop of the buggies and the slower pace of life will melt your stress away.  We promise!  To make a reservation,  click here or give us a call at 888-999-4479.

Thanks to our friends, Linda and Blake for sending us this picture.
