spring phloxIt's planting time in Lancaster and a great time to visit.  Weaverland Auction is open almost every day, offering vegetables and nursery plants - grown locally.  This is quintessential Lancaster County - not to be found on any tourist map or visitor guide - just by the locals! We'll also share our list of favorite nuseries - most within a 10 minute drive.  We are truly blessed to have so much so close.

Stay with us this summer and take advantage of Our Bloomers Are Showing Special - saving $10 during weekdays ($20 for the Garden Suite and $25 on the Cottage and Carriage House)  See the Specials Page for details.

We recently learned of an Amish-Mennonite woman (a friend's Aunt) who will give private tours of Amish backroads at $25/hour.  You provide the car.  Contact us and we'll give you Ada's phone number.

We now have reflexology massages available at the inn, Cottage and Carriage House.  The charge is $25 per hour for four happy feet and the perfect way to end a full day of shopping!

We've decided to list our flowers that are in bloom on our Garden page.  And, just like every year, I find another patch of grass that we can live without - replacing it with more flowers and plants.  This year is no exception - we invite you to watch us as we work on our "secret garden" in front of the Carriage House.  Thanks to all of you who have brought us plants, seeds and flowers over the years.  We truly have a "community" garden.
The Carriage HouseCarriage House Front Door

For twelve years Bruce and I have dreamed, drooled over and aspired to own The Carriage House - what used to be the barn when Sam Watts built his house in 1848.  It hasn't happened yet, but we are now renting the right apartment, with an option to buy in two years.  Yippee Yahoo Yeah!

The Carriage House is a whole-house rental, much like The Olde Stone Cottage, and has three bedrooms and two baths.  It is knee and hip friendly - offering one bath and bedroom on the first floor.  There's a full kitchen, living room and deck with a grill.

For the first year, we are offering an introductory price of $235 during the week and $260 on weekends - the same prices as The Olde Stone Cottage.  Unlike The Cottage, it shouldn't take us nearly as long (or as much work) to get The Carriage House up and running.  We expect to be open the first week in June.  To check on our progress, click here, and here to make a reservation.

Lancaster County Culinary Tours

BannerHere we are on our April Wine Tour - tasting wines at Va La Winery.

We'll join the guests of Harvest Moon Bed and Breakfast on our tours.

Herb Weekend - HURRY!  We still have one room left (The Olde Stone Cottage) for this weekend, May 9 & 10.  Join us as we discover the wonderful world of herbs - for the beauty, for cooking, and for medicinal values.  $125.00 per person covers lunch, all demonstrations, transportation, an over-the-top four-course herb inspired dinner at Lily's on Main and gift.  Call us for details.  It's a great gift for mom.

Wine and Cheese Tour - Our next tour is May 30 and 31- we'll be exploring two wineries in Chester County and a sheep cheese farm.  A great dinner, all the tastings , tours, transportation and lunch are included for $137.50/person.  See Wine and Cheese for details.  We are also adding a more adventurous Wine Camp September 14 through 17.  It will start with a cookout and tasting on Sunday night; on Monday we'll explore wineries in Berks County and on Tuesday we'll meander through the Brandywine Valley sipping wines.  We'll have four-course wine tasting dinners both nights.  Look for more information soon.  The dinners, two lunches and all transportation, tastings and tours are included in the price of $395 per person.  Lodging is extra.

Cajun Weekend - This fun weekend will start with a murder mystery dinner on Friday night, Mardi-Gras style.  On Saturday, we'll enjoy the Cajun cooking of the owners of Prudhommes Lost Cajun Kitchen.  Mark July 11 and 12 on your calendar and give us a call.  The cost is $87.50 per person.

Beer and Pretzel Tours  - There are more and more micro-breweries popping up all over Lancaster County.  Learn about the history of brewing and how Prohibition impacted that industry.  We'll take you on a tasting tour and stop along the way to sample some of the best pretzels you'll ever have!  Top it off with a great dinner, not having to worry about driving or paying for gas, and this is one of our best weekends.  Bring your friends and join us June 20 and 21 or August 15 and 16.  All for $125/person.
Spirit of Hospitality AwardHospitality Award

We are thrilled to announce that Jan was honored by the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention and Visitors Bureau for her work in the community.  She was awarded one of five Spirit of Hospitality Awards (Team spirit) from the 750 member group.  Carl Kosko, the owner of The Harvest Moon Bed and Breakfast, who often partners with Jan and Bruce on the culinary tours, was awarded the Spirit of Innovation award.  It is the first time that any bed and breakfast owners have received awards in the history of the bureau.  Read more about the award here.
