Career Opportunities

Recently centers, schools and organizations started to post their jobs on our website.  We hope you love your job but if a friend is looking, please suggest the look at our Job Board.
Teacher Surveys

We want to hear from you about your experiences teaching very young children in DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Every month, we'll send out a survey to everyone and then share the results the following month.  We'll use the information to shape our training and activities in the region.

July survey: Stress at Work

Not surprisingly, you feel stressed when the director applies policies inconsistently.  Also, you really don't like it when you aren't getting along with your teaching partner or don't seem to be on the same page as families.  No wonder - that is hard!

Tips from your peers:
  • Breathe deeply
  • Keep smiling
  • Listen to great music on your commute home
  • Schedule time to yourself with your friends

Strategies, Tips and Tricks

Learning to read is a process that begins at BIRTH!  Here are 5 of 50 literacy activities for babies...be sure to check out and get inspiried by the whole list!

  1. Talk. Talking to babies is imperative to language development. Describe the world around them. Talk about what is happening.
  2. Sing and dance. Babies learn phonological awareness through music.
  3. Read. No explanation needed here, right?
  4. Be consistent and predictable. Babies thrive on routine. Knowing what will happen next helps their emotional, social, and cognitive development.
  5. Recite nursery rhymes. Children naturally respond to rhythm and rhymes.
Remember, these activies work for parents, grandparents, family childcare providers, infant room teachers, and anyone who cares for a little one!
