Career Opportunities

Recently centers, schools and organizations started to post their jobs on our website.  We hope you love your job but if a friend is looking, please suggest the look at our Job Board.
Hot Topic: H1N1 Flu

Have you seen the award winning H1N1 Flu Rap by Dr. Clarke?

Elmo has four public service announcements about avoiding the flu and two videos to help kids and parents get ready for the flu.

Center Directors and Administrators came to a workshop last week called "Swine Flu: What to Do? Preparing for and Responding to H1N1"  with special guest, Marilyn Trapeni, RN, M.Ed.  If staff from your center weren't able to make it, we've put the program materials up on our website so you can download them.  Scroll down to the bottom of the website page and you'll see them. Happy handwashing!

Resources for Families
Talk, Listen, Connect is a multiphase, bilingual, multimedia initiative that guides families through multiple challenges, such as deployments, homecomings, and changes that occur when a parent comes home.

Zero to Three's Military Projects help increase awareness of parents and professionals about the impact of trauma, grief and loss on very young children so they can promote positive development and emotional health during the course of these stressful experiences.

Resources for Early Childhood Teachers:
Thanks to Zero to Three, you can create your own Over There Children's book!  Download the mommy version or the daddy version, depending on which parent is deployed, print it out, and attach photos that represent the spirit of the text.  If you and your child are inspired, you can even draw your own illustrations.  Do whatever feels right to capture the family's unique deployment story.  After completing the book, keep it on hand and read it to the child as often as each of you would like.

What Works!  Strengths-Based Approaches to Early Childhood Education
October 26 - November 14, 2009

Generous co-sponsors like AACTE have made it possible for you to participate for FREE! When you register, use their codes:

If you are preschool/pre-K/K-2 teacher, your code is: preschool

If you are a childcare/daycare/family child care or infant toddler teacher, your code is: daycare
(their language choice could be better, but don't let that stop you!)

According to a new study, high quality child care for young children living in poverty may be enough to offset negative home environments and provide them a foundation for good school skills until at least the fifth grade.
