Summer has arrived. It's time to fire up the grill and pull out the swimsuits--but wait--aren't you forgetting something? Ah yes, the sunscreen. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, 50 percent of all newly diagnosed cancers are skin cancer. Even more frightening, 80 percent of sun damage is acquired before the age of 18. That means it's up to you, dear parent, to preserve your precious little one's skin.

Fear not, skin cancer is preventable. For a skin-safe summer, follow the five simple steps listed on the BabysitEase blog.

The Phoenix Park Artist's Market kicks off this Saturday, June 7, and runs every Saturday through the summer. Downtown Lexington's only weekly art market features local artists and handmade art and craft products. There is a different combination of artists each week, so head out to eat some yummy kettle corn and take in the local fare!

Also kicking off this Saturday is the
Equus Run Vineyards' 2008 "Concerts at the Vineyard." Each Saturday this summer, Equus Run Vineyards offers this unique and enchanting entertainment experience to celebrate the newest wine releases. The "Concerts at the Vineyard" series combines musical performances in an outdoor amphitheater with surrounding ambiance of a romantic vineyard setting.
