Concerns and Confusion Over Route 590 Lane Changes

Many of you have contacted me or my office in the past few weeks regarding the new lanes painted on Interstate 590 at the Route 104 and East Ridge Road interchanges.

I share your concerns. This new traffic pattern appeared overnight and has taken us all by surprise, especially those of us who have driven these roads for years. The lack of notice, signage, and rationale for the lane changes has created a confusing, and potentially dangerous, situation given the high speeds and volume of traffic in this area of our community.

For these reasons, I have sent a letter to the regional office of the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) to request a meeting and collaborative effort to ensure safety for all residents, pedestrians, and drivers who travel the 590 corridor.

I will be certain to report back in the near future with more information about this situation. Thank you to everyone who has contacted me and please let me know if you have any other questions or comments.
