Hard to believe that it is already the 3rd weekend of May, although as i write this the weather seems like the 3rd week on March! Although the weather is tempting us to forget, it is getting warmer and with that there are a few things you should attend to before it gets hot! First and foremost is check your sprinkler system. Start with the timer/controller. Make sure it is keeping time properly-is it on the correct date-and if it is am or pm is that what the controller says it is? Replace the backup battery. This will keep your system functioning in some fashion in case of a monsoon power outage or surge. Turn on each valve one by one and walk around. Are the heads functioning properly and putting water in the right direction? Does each drip tubing have an emitter, is the emitter putting out water? Get the idea? Check for leaks or breaks, and open the valve box and be sure none of you valves is leaking. Once you have made sure everything is up to par or you've identified what needs replace/fixed you are prepared to start adjusting your watering schedule accordingly(hopefully you did this winter with the rain and cooler weather!).
