Citrus Fertilization
Subscribe to Our Newsletter!
Well, the cold weather should be behind us now and Spring is right on the horizon. Valentine's Day is a week away and that means a number of things, but to gardeners in the low desert of Arizona it means fertilization of citrus trees! It is not uncommon for our citrus trees to look a little pale and even to start dropping some leaves with cold damp soil.  Remember that citrus are subtropical and prefer warmer weather.  It is vital for Citrus to flush new growth and of course to bloom later this Spring. To insure that both these things happen, an application of fertilizer is vital right now.  We have suggested using the Organo brand of Citrus Fertilizer for over 40 years.  Many years ago Earl Cain the developer of Organo brand came to valley nurserymen and County Extension Citrus Specialists for a recommendation of what the perfect citrus fertilizer should be. Organo Citrus Fertilizer is the end result of that.  If applied at Valentine's Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day using the suggested rates on the bag The Harper Boys can assure you of great looking trees and great tasting fruit! As we like to say "feed the trees that feed you" and do it now for best results!

Bye the way, this is also a very good time to fertilize all of your landscape trees, shrubs, and vines. Again we recommend the Organo brand and of course Ferti lome brand fertilizers.  Take advantage of the recent rains and moist soil conditions that will allow the fertilizers to get watered in more easily and reduce the chance of fertilizer burn.

If all of this seems too daunting of a task-remember Harper's landscape division is here ready to help develop and apply the perfect fertilizer schedule for your garden!
Whether you do it yourself or have Harper's landscape department do it for you, make sure to maximize your fertilizer application by doing it now! For more about citrus fertilization and other garden tips be sure to listen to Jay during the garden segment of Rosie on the House (8am on 92.3fmKTAR).  If you do dare to miss the show the tips are recorded and can be heard by going to www.HarpersNurery.com or www.RosieOnTheHouse.com!  Remember-where there is no gardener-there is no garden!
