The Power of Nutrition Award to Dr. Mehmet C. Oz
 MANNA will honor Dr. Mehmet C. Oz, at a benefit luncheon on
October 2, 2009 from Noon to 2:00 PM.
Dr. Oz, host of the new "The Dr. Oz Show"
premiering on CBS 3 on 9/14/09, will receive MANNA's
special The Power of Nutrition Award, in recognition of his longtime
dedication to educating people and promoting healthy living through
better nutrition.
"MANNA recognizes Dr. Oz
for his passion in spreading a universal message of the power of
nutrition, to help us all live longer, healthier lives, as MANNA does in
our community every day," says MANNA CEO Richard Keaveney.
Dr. Oz will be presented with the award at the
benefit luncheon, which will be held at The Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200
Market Street, and will also include a remarks by Richard
Keaveney. Guests will enjoy a delicious, hearty-healthy
menu prepared by Loews' renowned chefs. The Media Sponsor is CBS3 and The CW Philly.

New technology in the Nutrition Department, a weighty improvement.
 For years, the dietitians at MANNA have done bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) testing as part of the free Medial Nutrition Therapy consultations for our clients. The BIA technology was essential for identifying patients whose lean body mass was wasting away, by using electrodes on the hands and feet. Each test cost about $1 and only provided three
readings: lean body mass, fat mass and extra cellular tissue.
In an effort to be more cost conscious, as well as provide better service to our clients, MANNA has purchased a new Tanita scale that measures more body composition entities while eliminating the need for the BIA electrodes.

MANNA thanks all of our United Way and combined campaign donors for their generous support for MANNA's mission. MANNA doesn't receive funds directly from United Way, so your Donor Choice designation of MANNA means a lot to us.
 As you think about donating through your employer's workplace giving campaign, remember that regular monthly donations can be made to MANNA through our own "Raise the Dough" campaign, where 100% of your donation goes directly to support MANNA's mission. Your local United Way can tell you how much it will deduct from your pledge for its administration fee.
