MANNA's fleet of Subarus
Everyone has been affected by the rising prices at the gas pump. When possible, MANNA has consolidated driver routes and delivery areas to conserve gas as we deliver meals to our clients' homes, five days a week.

On average each week, it costs $80 to fuel one of MANNA's delivery cars. This summer, you can help fuel our fleet by making a donation today.

BONUS: During the months of July and August, each $20 online donation* will receive one entry in the Made in the Shade Summer Raffle. Thanks for your support and good luck!

*To be entered, please note *Made in the Shade Raffle on online donation form in "I am making this contribution in response to:".

Gilda's Club will host a full day free conference "Lesbians with Breast Cancer: Creating Healthy Lives" on Sunday, July 29 in New Hope, PA. One of MANNA's nutritionists will be presenting a workshop "Making Sense of Nutrition." The conference is open to all lesbians with breast cancer and their entire support network. This collaborative effort will help MANNA get the word out that we are committed to providing not only meals, but also nutrition information to the many women with breast cancer suffering with nutrition concerns and confusion.

MANNAfests Historic Tour and Happy Hour
Wednesday, July 18, 2007
City Tavern (138 S. 2nd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106)
6:00 pm - Guided tour begins at City Tavern
7:00 - 9:00 pm - Happy hour at City Tavern
$15 minimum donation to benefit MANNA
RSVP required by Friday, July 13

Come celebrate our city's incredible history on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. The guided tour begins at City Tavern at 6:00 pm, and concludes back at City Tavern at 7:00 pm for a two-hour happy hour.

For a $15 donation to MANNA, guests will enjoy a guided tour by The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia through the birthplace of America in the city's Independence National Historical Park area. The tour concludes with a happy hour and cuisine samples at Philadelphia's most historic restaurant, City Tavern. First established in 1773, today's reconstructed City Tavern recreates the original atmosphere enjoyed by patrons like George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson, and features a menu inspired by 18th century recipes and designed by world-famous chef Walter Staib. From the staff garbed in 18th century fashions to the specialty ales brewed according to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson's original recipes, City Tavern's MANNAfests happy hour is the closest you'll get to Colonial Philadelphia without a time machine!

The guided tour begins at 6:00 pm at the southwest corner of 6th and Market Streets and concludes at 7:00 pm at City Tavern for a two-hour happy hour.

Visit www.myspace.com/mannafests or www.mannapa.org for more information about the event! For more information about City Tavern, visit www.citytavern.com.

Please RSVP by Friday, July 13, to Rob Saxon at 215-496-2662 ext. 138.

Thanks to Natalie Hope McDonald for donating her photography services. Visit MANNAfests Flickr Page for photos from our events.
As MANNA continues to expand our services to more people in the Delaware Valley, recruiting delivery volunteers is becoming more essential to our everyday operations. We are also looking for volunteers to help with kitchen shifts.

Ways you can help:
  • Deliver meals one day a week.

  • Gather your friends or co-workers to volunteer as a group at MANNA.

  • Put up a flyer about MANNA at your grocery store, coffee shop, dry cleaner or gym.

  • Let your co-workers know about volunteer opportunities at MANNA and post the flyer on a bulletin board at your workplace.
You can help increase our visibility by taking a few minutes to ask your neighborhood hang-out spot or workplace to put up a MANNA flyer.

The following dates are orientation sessions for new volunteers this summer:
July 12 at 12:30 PM
July 26 at 5:30 PM
August 9 at 12:30 PM
August 23 at 5:30 PM
September 6 at 12:30 PM
September 20 at 5:30 PM

For more information or to R.S.V.P. for an orientation, contact Sue Aistrop
or call
215-496-2662 ext.120.

Thank you for helping to spread the word!
