More than 450 of our clients and their families
received a home-delivered Christmas dinner that
included Roast Prime Rib of Beef Au Jus, Garlic
Mashed Potatoes, Antigua Mixed Vegetables, Corn
Pudding, Homemade Holiday Cornbread, Snowflake
Rolls, Butter, Greek Salad, Fruit Cup, Whole MANNA
Pie, and Cookies.
From 6:00 AM until 3:00 PM volunteer groups from Citizens Bank, the Bucks County Council, and many more individual volunteers cooked and packaged the dinner, which included a gift for each client. The gifts were one-of-a-kind artwork or crafts from The Kids Care Program - a collaboration between students and teachers in local schools, 88.5 WXPN, and the Woodmere Art Museum. We heard from many volunteers about their
experience on Christmas Day and here is what some
of them wanted to express:
"I want to tell you what a meaningful experience my family and I had delivering food on Christmas day," said Margie Singer, one of more than 125 volunteers who made deliveries. "It felt good to volunteer and better yet to have my kids involved in the process." "I must commend you and the entire staff of MANNA on a job well done - BRAVO! Also, thank you for all that you do on a daily basis. I, myself, am HIV + and who knows, one day I could be in need of the wonderful service that MANNA provides." "I wanted to let you know that I heard from a family member of a MANNA client who received meals over the holiday. This gentleman has cancer and has been receiving meals since the Fall of 2006. The family was overwhelmed by the Christmas meal. They were able to celebrate with their Dad and he had left-overs to keep him for days. They also were surprised to see a family show up to do the Christmas delivery. The family also said he received a blizzard bag - a bag to hold him over for a few days in case the normal delivery can't get through," said James O'Neill, MANNA supporter and former MANNA board member. "I just wanted to pass their thanks (and mine) on to you. Everyday people at MANNA go about their work in a caring way and for each worker or volunteer at MANNA, there are many clients, family and friends who benefit. I love telling the MANNA story and letting people know about this great place." Thanks again to all the volunteers who
dedicated their time and love to our clients on
Christmas day!

MANNA relies daily on our volunteers to
prepare and deliver meals to our clients. However,
when the winter weather gives in to a snow storm
and it becomes dangerous for volunteers to drive,
MANNA must get food to their clients another way.
Blizzard bags are delivered to our clients a day or so
before a heavy snowstorm is forecasted. The bags
contain: 3 frozen MANNA meals, chicken and biscuit
mix, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, and either tuna fish or
soup. Blizzard bags have enough food to nourish
clients for a week in the event that the storm shuts
them in. Our clients rely on our meals to stay
healthy and we take actions to ensure they receive
nutritious meals no matter what the obstacle!
