Dear friend,
Happy spring! I just want to share that six of the girls who have been in our program were inducted into the National Honor Society this morning! We are so proud of Georgia K., Umbareen, Mykaliah B., Ruth N., Fatima T., and Georgia P.!
CELEBRATE NATIONAL LAB DAY--EVERY DAY! Just as mothers should really be celebrated all year, the spirit of National Lab Day, is with us every day here at Science Club for Girls, where our work IS to bring scientists engineers, mathematicians AND girls together to discover the world through a different lens. This semester, more than 150 mentors and speakers devoted anywhere from one to fifty hours of their time to make the sciences come to life for our 400+ girls! Thank you!
PLEASE MAKE A DONATION A dear friend of Science Club for Girls recently said to us, "Hey, I
have not been asked to donate yet this year!" Guilty as charged. So, here's our call to action. If we can raise $5,000 by June 15th, we can create a new summer program site in Boston. Can you help us by contributing $25, or as much as you are
able, and asking one other person (or your company) to match your gift?

EVERYBODY LOVES SCIENCE
Girls & families @ Everybody LOVES Science! | Our end-of-year showcase and celebration last Saturday, Everybody LOVES Science, was, simply put, a blast. You know what I'm talking about if you're one of the 460 folks who had a hard time deciding between the 50 stations of hands-on fun, won a raffle item, got your celebrity fix with the cast members from FETCH!, Design Squad or SciGirls, or saw the premiere of the Science Club Does Lady Gaga video. Intrigued? Read more here
WHAT DID YOU DO ON YOUR VACATION? Learning takes place even when school is out. And it's better when learning is disguised as fun. Fifty girls made bir d houses or planters, concocted GAK, I mean, polymers, and got their hands dirty and minds full during April vacation week. Read about their escapades at the Yawkey Boys and Girls Club in Roxbury and the Myrtle Baptist Church in Newton. We know you wish you had a cool vacation experience like these!
SCIENCE BY DAY AND BY NIGHT See a video of our girls at iRobot during National Robotics Week, and read about the special privilege that older participants in 5/6th grades get to enjoy--spending the night at the Museum of Science. |

Our most sincere welcome to Lauren Silverman, Ph.D., for joining our board of directors. Lauren is the managing director of the Novartis Option Fund. She is passionate about our cause and will bring tremendous energy to our organization. more about Lauren
In the past four years, program manager Kareen Wilkinson has reinforced Science Club for Girls' reputation as a quality program especially in Cambridge and more recently in Lawrence. She has contributed her insightful ideas and her experience on the front lines to hone our volunteer training, and build strong relationships with parents and partners. Kareen is a talented educator and so it's a natural next step for her to attend the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Teacher Education Program. We will miss her and wish her the best of luck. Watch out for her as she sweeps the nation with Teacher of the Year Awards! |
