Munger Builds Lifetime Customer Relationships

Throughout the 40+ years Munger Construction has been in business the company's goal has been to develop and foster long- standing relationships with many satisfied customers. Customer confidence in Munger Construction has enabled us to grow into the reputable company we are today.

We strive to make it easy for customers to do business with us at every stage of the project. We get to know them based on individual needs and preferences, and create tailored solutions that consistently deliver Munger's promise.

We want them to rely on us when they need additional work and to refer us to others who need a reliable and dependable builder who provides quality construction without compromising integrity, budget, or professionalism.

During our relationship with Algonquin Industries that started in the mid 80's we completed a 60,000 square foot building expansion, interior renovations and remodeling, machine pit installations, general repairs and maintenance.

Since the 70's we have created new buildings, additions and renovations, and provided maintenance for the George Schmitt Company and several divisions including Acitronics, Guilford Gravure, and Image Processing.

After doing business with the original owner of North Haven Auto Body for many years, the new owner continues to call on us for construction solutions. We just completed a 3rd addition.

Murphy Moving and Storage, for whom we built a new facility, referred us to Country Paint and Hardware where we recently completed a challenging project. Massey Glass, a most valuable customer, referred us to United Tire for their new towing and recovery services facility. Our subcontractor, Criscuolo Engineering referred us to Trailer Depot, where we recently completed their new headquarters and showroom, and Chester Technical Services where we built their new facility in North Branford.

These examples are just a small sampling of the many repeat customers who have placed their confidence in Munger Construction. We do appreciate each and every one of our customers and look forward to continuing these positive business relationships in the future.

If you visit our website, you will see many success stories that affirm our identity of delivering customer satisfaction by establishing long lasting customer relationships. Please contact me if you would like to learn more about customers who continue to rely on Munger Construction.

Sincerely,

David A. DeMaio, President daviddemaio@mungerconstruction.com

  • Recent Success Story
  • Lee Company Bldg. 3

The Lee Company can be featured in this newsletter both as a Recent Success Story, and a Work-In Progress. Over the years Munger Construction has developed a positive, mutually beneficial business relationship with The Lee Company. Together with Noyes Vogt Architects we have worked to design and complete a variety of construction projects for their manufacturing company.

The Lee Company is a manufacturing company specializing in producing miniature hydraulic parts for aerospace, automotive and medical fields and industries. They are a family owned business with several locations throughout the country including one on Pettipaug Road in Westbrook, CT and one on Bokum Road in Essex, CT.

Recently we completed a 17,400 SF building addition to Building 3 in Westbrook. This included a manufacturing area and 3,400 SF of office area consisting of structural steel and storefront glass. 2,000 SF of existing interior manufacturing space was also renovated into office space.

Currently we are working on two additional projects. Building 2 in Westbrook is undergoing phased renovations to improve production flow. In Essex we are constructing a 70,000 square foot addition to the Electro-Fluidic System (EFS) Building, allowing the pumps division to move from their current location into a new area and then providing expansion space for a new medical building.

Munger Construction highly values the confidence The Lee Company continues to place in our company. We wish The Lee Company success in their new facilities and look forward to continuing this positive business relationship in the future.

  • 1 Commercial Street

We completed an extensive renovation and fit out of a 40,000 square foot masonry industrial building located at 1 Commercial Street, Branford, CT. The building owned by CT Realty Group, LLC, underwent extensive exterior renovations throughout last summer and fall. Our work included installing storefront windows and doors, overhead doors, and a new EFIS cladding system for the exterior. Utilities were also upgraded.

Interior work consisted of a complete fit-out of a 5,000 square foot space for Fastenal Corporation, a 10,000 square foot space for SARAH, and a 5,000 square foot space for A2 Electronics. There is still 16,200 square feet of space available within the building for anyone looking for flexible space in the Branford area. For inquiries on leasing please contact Fred Petrella at CT Realty Group, LLC, at 203-483-0425.

  • Currently Munger Construction has 3 projects under contract for United States Surgical Corporation (USSC), 195 McDermott Road in North Haven, CT. Projects include the Clean Room #3 expansion project, the PDMF Building, Polymer and Annealing Division expansion, and the Sutures Assembly and SDI area expansion. All projects require detailed coordination in order to complete demolition and construction while maintaining the clean room environments necessary for USSC to continue operating efficiently.

Each of the three projects consists of interior work within the main manufacturing areas for sutures and other surgical appliances. Temporary walls must be erected to keep the construction areas well sealed to avoid contamination of finish goods and products. The projects also require extensive mechanical and electrical work.

Planning and scheduling with USSC, Munger Construction and the sub-contractors is a monumental task, requiring job supervisors to be precise and organized throughout every phase of the projects. It has been a unique challenge to complete these complex projects with high levels of environmental controls that must be maintained 24 hours a day, throughout the demolition and construction process. Munger Construction greatly appreciates the opportunity to provide construction services to USSC.

  • Project Manager, Joe Raccio III, began working in the construction field as a carpenter in 1982. During his last 24 years in the field he was owner of his own business for eight years prior to joining the Munger team on June 3, 2002.

Joe is a “get-it-done” person, always willing to dive into a project to ensure that it is completed on time and with the highest quality. He not only demonstrates individual competency but is also willing to assist his peers, offering positive guidance and support.

In addition to having the necessary construction skills and knowledge, Joe demonstrates excellent “people” skills, which are equally important when coordinating all aspects of a construction project. These skills were recently tested during our now completed expansion and renovation project for the Guilford Veterinary Hospital in Guilford, CT. He competently addressed all customer needs and requests, completing construction tasks while at the same time allowing the veterinary practice to remain open and fully functioning.

Joe and his wife, Tammy, live in Wallingford with their 4-year old son. When Joe is not working he enjoys spending time at home, camping with the family, and doing projects with his son. Joe has been involved as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association and the Wallingford Family YMCA. Joe is also a NASCAR fan! Finally, when Joe takes his well-deserved vacation time his favorite place to go is Acapulco. He’s been there 7 times!!!

We are lucky to have Joe as a project superintendent on the Munger team. Thanks Joe!

  • Munger Construction continues to grow. Recently the following three new field personnel were hired: Kevin Karge – carpenter, Phil Kenney – general laborer/carpenter, and Vincent Della Rocca – project manager. We welcome these new employees to the Munger team.

Additionally we are in the process of expanding our office to include the space next to us in the same building we are currently located in. Our goal is to move the estimating and design center next door to allow more space for this department to operate in. Hopefully this additional area will allow us to better serve our customers in the days ahead.
