Advent Décor Assistance - Greening the Church
Assistance is needed to help decorate the church for the Season of Advent - our time of preparation for Christmas. Consider staying after the Congregational Meeting to assist Wayne Davis in beginning to decorate. Two Christmas trees need assembling so all kinds of helpers are needed - not just those with décor genes!
Genesis Groups
You can join a small group at anytime. Study God's Word and build community in small groups. Contact the church for directions. 972-243-0761 office@mccgd.org

What: Transgender Day of Remembrance
When: Thursday, November 20, 2008 6:00 PM
Where: The campus of Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas
Exit 75 (Central Expressway) at University Blvd., westbound.
Follow the signs to the parking garage and from there to the Hughes-Trigg Student Center, two blocks south of the parking garage.
This event is sponsored jointly by GEAR (Gender Advocacy and Education Resources) and the Dallas area Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, as well as Resource Center of Dallas, and the Southern Methodist University Women's Center for Gender and Pride Initiatives. We urge all who can to attend this event where we will honor the memory of those who have been killed during the last year because of their gender variance. The North Texas observance is part of the international Day of Remembrance.
We will begin assembling in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center around 6:00 PM and at 6:30 will proceed to the Quadrangle at SMU in a candlelight procession. Our primary speaker will be Feleshia Porter and music will be provided by Mosaic Song. If the weather is bad we'll have the ceremony inside the student center.

 World Aids Day
World AIDS Day Event - Sunday, November 30th at 5:00pm
HIV/AIDS remains a preventable disease and yet new people are diagnosed every day.
We have an uncommon hope, as we remember, honor, realize and respond to the reality of HIV/AIDS in our bodies, our families, our churches, our communities and our world.

Kaboodle Sale - Returns Nov. 30th and Dec. 7th
Our Kaboodle sale is a hit! You've asked that it continue. Since we need the tables for our Thanksgiving Feast, the sale will take a week off and return on Nov. 30th and for the last week on Dec. 7th.
What's a Kaboodle? It's a collection of objects/things. Do you have objects/things at your home that are new or in excellent shape that you never use? Why not donate them to the church? This sale (of quality items - no clothing) will enable you to purchase items for Christmas for a bargain! You may be able to pick up that little something for your co-worker or for that gift exchange. Just think, you can simplify your household and make holiday purchases that offset these tough economic times and benefit the church. It's a win-win-win! Remember these are new or like new items. Bring them to the Kaboodle Table in the Social Hall. Check out the goodies that may appear.

Hilarious, irreverent, entertaining & witty - this will be a concert to remember with original Holiday songs, including:
  • Lost in the Mall Again
  • The One and Only Fruitcake in the World
  • The Neiman-Marcus Christmas Carol
as well as many familiar favorites including "Silver Bells", "Mary's Boy Child", The Cherry Tree Carol" and other carols of the season.
"At first, when you hear the twang of her band Catch-23 and the old-school Americana roots-y twang in her voice, you assume her show will probably be just about as fun as watching granny's organ recital at the local Baptist church. But Mitchell will surprise you-her songs are just as down-home, rootin' tootin' groovy as anything you'd hear at the All Good Café or Poor David's, and her lyrics are less shtick-y than they are insightful. Take 'Love on the Internet,' the story of a couple who meets online and falls in love, only to have the love crushed due to the mores of Dallas social structure, as outlined by the highway system: 'She wrote/ Why not come to my house for the evening/ We'll send out for pizza, watch a video/ He was eager, til he found she lived in Plano/ and north of Loop 12 he would not go/ Oh, it's a sad, sad tale of one city/ where status draws the line I hate to say/ He would not go north of Northwest Highway/ She would not go south of LBJ.' This, from Mitchell's excellent album I'm Not Martha Stewart."

Parking can sometimes be difficult on and near SMU. The Meadows Museum is a good option. It is across the oval from the Meadows School of the Arts, but an easy walk. There is also a pay lot at the Hotel Lumen directly across Hillcrest from the Meadows School of Music. (They have a fabulous restaurant called "Social" but make sure to call for reservations if you want to eat there before the concert.) Please arrive early. Seating is general admission. With a 100% sell-out, the hall will be packed. When you are seated, please do not leave any empty seats between yourselves and the next patrons - make some new friends!
American Family Association's Protest of PepsiCo Grant
In its latest public outcry, the American Family Association (AFA) -- a conservative group that has called for boycotts of PepsiCo and other companies over the years -- has organized an e-mail and telephone campaign targeting PepsiCo's consumers, bottlers and other business partners to protest a $500,000 grant the PepsiCo Foundation made to Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) in support of workplace equality. The PFLAG initiative focuses solely on the workplace, and PepsiCo's grant does not reflect political or public advocacy of any kind.
PepsiCo is fully committed to promoting and supporting diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its business. The company is proud of its success in attracting the world's best talent and in building a workplace that is both respectful and reflective of the consumers it serves.
Read more on about the PepsiCo Foundation and its philanthropic contributions.

Join us on Sundays at 10 am for worship.
