CSS Weekend Reflections Newsletter by Confidential Search Solutions

Greetings!
   TJ's Headshot
Happy Labor Day!  We missed you in August. We took some time offline from the newsletter publication to prepare for the exciting announcements we will share with you this month.

For those of you in San Antonio, how about those Roadrunners?  For those of you outside the local area, the Roadrunners are the new football team at The University of Texas, San Antonio (UTSA).  They won their first inaugural football game on Saturday, September 3, 2011, 31-3 at the Alamodome.
Go Roadrunners go!

We are bubbling over with so many positive things to share.  To begin, we have officially launched our new division, Confidential Government Solutions, a career development training and career coaching company designed exclusively to serve our military members and their families in transition.  We are excited about our team's growing successes to include the following:
  1. Our logo was approved by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.  See below.
  2. We hired our first publicist to create our public relationships department.
  3. We had a record breaking number of job orders in the month of August.
  4. A global client created an entire new division and gave us the opportunity to fill half of the initial positions.
  5. Our 1st featured article in NSIDE SA Magazine's is in the Sep/Oct issue.
  6. Because of one of our candidate's exceptional qualifications, a client created a new Assistant Vice President position exclusively for him.
  7. Our expanded strategic partnerships resulted in 12 new job orders in Houston, New Orleans, Toledo, and Detroit.  We are flying candidates all over the country for interviews.

It is an exciting time for us at Confidential Search Solutions.  These are the moments when great lessons are learned and expanded opportunities occur.  We are thankful for these moments and the committed men and women who are helping us build an incredible organization. Likewise, we are grateful to you, our personal and professional supporters.

Please join us on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Brackenridge Park for our annual participation in the American Heart Association's Heart Walk in San Antonio.  You can create your own team or join ours. This is a great community event.  During our first year in business, we raised over $500 in 2009; then over $1,000 in 2010; with an anticipated goal of $1,500 in 2011.  Will you help us? Make it personal.  Make a difference. Donate today.  Happy Labor Day!

Respectfully,

Employment Trends Updates for Work Week Ending

September 3, 2011

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, released by the Department of Labor, "The Employment Situation for August 2011 showed no change in the unemployment rate from July.  The rate remains at 9.1%.

Did you notice an increased number of unemployed teenagers and young adults this summer, between the ages of 16-24? There was a reason for it.  There were only 48.8% of the people in that year group who were employed in July.  This is the lowest unemployment record in history since they started collecting the data in 1948.  Additionally, the youth labor force participation rate (all employed youth and job seekers between the ages of 16-24) was only 59.5% in July; the lowest rate in recorded in history.

Typically, the summer months are the time when college and high school students get jobs and the majority of college graduates and non-college bound high school graduates look for their first real full-time job.  However, when jobs are limited, the job search process becomes more challenging and competitive.  This creates an interesting dynamic for both job seekers and employers to manage.  When demand is high for workers, salaries go up.  On the contrary, when the demand for jobs is up, salary levels tend to decrease.  Therefore, we recommend all young adults take their job search process extremely serious.  Start with your local career center in your high school, college, or university. Then compare information with online resources and career publications along with the top three online job boards prior to any advance career development training and career coaching services designed for seasoned professionals.  Below is a comment from one of our registered professionals from our complimentary weekly webinars available through our career portal:

"I have been blaming the economy, job market and everyone else for not scheduling interviews. I didn't realize the mistakes I was making until I participated on the weekly webinars. I have three final interviews this coming week and want you to know it's because of your advice and the resources you provided. I've gone to four Recruiting Firms and no one else cared except you. I will refer every qualified person I know to you because you are the best!" Thank you, Katie C., Akron, OH

We invite you to take advantage of our time saving and career enhancing services provided to all job seekers. Doing nothing is not a wise decision. Jump start your career today.

Have a Fabulous Holiday Weekend!

"What is The Greatest Professional Compliment You Can Receive?"
Recently Posted Blog by Confidential Search Solutions on Jobing.com

CSS TeamWhile many may say "a job promotion," is the greatest compliment, it is my belief that having another professional (peer, manager, subordinate, or even one of your most revered competitor) say something favorable about you without your knowledge is the greatest compliment.  The reason is, an unsolicited compliment or endorsement can literally catapult your career to an entire new level of responsibilities and recognition simply because of their respect for and belief in you.  When this occurs, it is a huge compliment to you based on their often private and casual observation of your work performance.

Recently one of my icons and fellow business owner in the recruiting industry recommended me for an incredible opportunity on a national platform.  It was a huge surprise and a quite humbling experience.  Without my knowledge she gave me a very gracious public endorsement at the highest level within our national certification organization.  Personally, I was shocked and surprised to learn that she had noticed some of my accomplishments within our local community and related industry.  As a result of her kindness, I was inspired to write this article and share some professional insights with you.

With over 25 years in the work force and a current owner of one of San Antonio's growing search firms, I have seen many employees come to work with one thing on their mind, "getting through the day so they can quickly go home.".(Click here to see the rest of the blog posted on Jobing.com)
