Friday Factoid & Weekend Reflections Newsletter by CSS

Greetings!

TJ's HeadshotHappy Friday!  It is official! Confidential Search Solutions is an approved Texas State HUB Certified company.  We are excited to share this good news with you.  Thank you for believing in us.

We are also excited about the new employment numbers that came out this week.  They continue to exceed analysts' expectations.  In fact, 28% of employers hired additional full-time staff as of 1st quarter 2011.  According to USA Today and Career Builder's job forecasts, this is the 7th consecutive quarter that the numbers have increased.  This is the highest quarter in three years, since 2008.  Additionally, more employers are forecasted to exceed those numbers in the 2nd quarter across geographical regions and industries.  Click here for more detailed results and full report.

Our hearts go out to the people who are currently in one of the 600,000 jobs in Texas that could disappear in critical career fields like education and law enforcement.  This is an unsettling time for many people.  However, unless we can personally stop it, we should stay focused on what we can do to help those affected by this potential outcome.  Sure, we can say a prayer, give a hug, and a good shoulder to cry on.  However, there is so much more we can do.  Join me on my New Blog Page to share your ideas of what we can do to help.

Giving is an amazing gift you actually receive when you practice giving to others.  Start giving more of yourself today.  Enjoy your weekend and the spring blossoms!

Respectfully,

Weekend Reflections
What are You Motivated to Do to Improve Your Social Networking Capabilities?

Computer Keys

As the CEO of a young growing company, I did not think I had the time to tweet on Tweeter, link on LinkedIn, re-tweet articles from HBR (Harvard Business Review), connect on Facebook, upload on YouTube, and now blog on my own blog post, but amazingly I do.  It is like all other things in life.  We tend to make time for what we think is important.

This thought reminded me of a recent YouTube video of Dr. Tony Roach, one of the 10 Finalist of the "Own Your Own Show" on the new "O" Network.  He is a man who dropped out of high school in 10th grade and lived a questionable life until someone inspired him to care enough about himself to make a change.  As a result, he went back to school, completed his high school diploma and then continued on with his higher education until he reached his goal of a PhD.

Life is changing and it is changing rapidly with new technology which is affecting how we communicate with one another.  As a result, we as leaders within our organizations, homes (especially those of us over 40) committee groups, social clubs, or academic settings, must forge ahead and overcome our fears by fully embracing our socially connected world.   Things will never be the way they used to be, except in the state of our minds.

Please share your thoughts on my New Blog Post.  We want to hear from you.  Check back often for new entries.  Ciao for now!

Respectfully,

Service Matters!

Service Matters

Fact:

A Fortune 500 international VP of Internal Audit had multiple job openings to fill and interviews to schedules while trying to juggle a 50% travel schedule, an administrative support person who was not always available when he
traveled, multiple outside recruiting firms, and normal daily responsibilities of an audit group.

Dilemma:

While in Europe, the hiring manager needed to give timely feedback to the outside recruiting firms and reschedule some of the interview appointment times prior to his return to the states.  However, when he tried to reach his administrative assistant at 2 a.m., in the morning, he was unable to reach her.  Yet he had one recruiting firms' telephone number with an open invitation to call 24/7, if needed.  This was one of those times he decided to take the risk and called the firm's representative assigned to his account.

Outcome:

The recruiting firm that took the call at 2 a.m., in the morning and relayed all messages to his administrative assistant upon her morning arrival, in addition to a critical message they relayed to a local competitor, gave extraordinary service in spite of the time.  Upon the client's return to the states, the client decided to eliminate all other recruiting firms to work exclusively with the one firm that gave him the best service at the most awkward but critical time.  As a result, he dramatically reduced his stress level by working exclusively with one firm, he increased his quality of applicants because the one firm got all of his undivided attention and feedback, and  his administrative assistant was more pleasant because she only had one vendor to work with versus multiple ones.

Summary:

Service Matters!  While the recruiting firm that answered the phone in the middle of the morning did not think much about it, the client did.  In a society where many employees want to do the bare minimum while earning the maximum, service matters. The recruiting firm got an exclusive contract and the client drastically reduced his stress levels while traveling.

If you have an opportunity to go out of your way for one of your clients, employees, managers, or vendors, do it!  Service matters.

Have a Wonderful Day!
