Weekend Reflections Newsletter by CSS
Small LogoHappy Friday!

Greetings!

Brian ShumakerIt is the beginning of another weekend to enjoy our routine duties and planned activities, in addition to handling unexpected issues that may arise.  Graduations are over.  College  students are accepting their first major jobs, while others are still looking.  Some are preparing to leave for summer vacations, while few are still planning.  So much is going on, yet is it really?
My suspicion is, there are only about three things that are truly going on.  How can I say that?  Well, when you stop for a moment and think about it, all of our activities can be grouped into three simple categories.  It is simple to see when we reduce everything to its lowest common denominator.  We are either engaged in or focused on 1) people and their needs, 2) places we need to go, or 3) things we need to do.  That is it: 1, 2, 3.
While complex and challenging at times, life is truly more enjoyable and manageable when we simplify it.  Remember, our interpretation and opinion on things is what gives us the feelings we have about them. Maintain a proper perspective and it will provide the positive energy we need in order to progress.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Respectfully,
TJ Haygood, Founder & CEO

Friday Factoids for Employers & Employees:
Over-Achievers Vs. Steady Eddies: Which One Are You?

DefeatWe were recently reminded by one of our global clients that what is important to them and their managers is dramatically different than what is important to other clients and their organization.  No two companies are alike.  Likewise, no two hiring managers are alike either.  This is true even if they have identical twins working for the same company.  Each company has its own corporate culture, like each person has their own personality.

We have one client that likes to hire the best and the brightest individuals in the local market.  They want professionals to have a proven track record of progressive success.  In fact, they love to hire over-achievers with high grade point averages.  On the other hand, we have another client that likes to hire even-tempered but highly accomplished professionals with certifications and licenses.  They prefer to hire worker-bees who are content being in one job for years with normal merit increases.  These types of people are also known as "steady eddies." Both are willing to pay premium fees to find the individuals they want to work within their organization.

Do you know which one you are, or who you project yourself to be based on your body language?  If not, you may want to attend our webinar on June 25th, available through out career portal
.  We will talk about body language and what your body language is saying to others.   Remember, you are to others who you project yourself to be.  Your body language actually speaks louder and lasts longer than your words.  Make sure you are sending out consistent messages about who you really are.  You are your best marketing campaign.

Weekend Reflections
Stop!  Clean Up Your Room & Throw Out the Trash

Advance
When our sons were young and still in our household, the weekends were filled with pre-arranged school or extra curriculum activities.  However, they knew before we did anything they had to stop, clean up their room, and throw out the trash.  Not "only" because we wanted their help cleaning the house, which we did want.   But more importantly, we wanted them to value the concept of maintaining the things they were responsible for.  We wanted them to grow up to become professionals who maintained high standards in any environment.

Maintenance is very critical to the business worlds, commercial institutions, governmental entities, and individuals.  Think about it.  Where would we all be without road maintenance, aircraft maintenance, vehicle maintenance, and our neighbors' yard maintenance.

Take the time this weekend and give yourself some personal maintenance.  We can all relate to the external things we need to do to take care of things and other people.  However, without the proper self maintenance, we will begin to deteriorate more rapidly than necessary because we failed to take care of the most important person, you.  You have to take care of yourself in order to take care of others and/or do the things you want and/or need to do.

Enjoy your weekend!
