Welcome to Confidential Search Solutions' Friday Factoids & Weekend Reflections
Greetings!
Happy Friday Everyone!
Remember to change your clock Saturday night before you go to bed. Otherwise, you might be late for worship and/or golf tee time on Sunday morning.
Were you aware that March is Women's History Month and March 8, was International Women's Day? In 1981, Senator Orrin Hatch and Representative Barbara Mikulski co-sponsored a joint resolution, establishing "Women's History Week", which later became Women's History Month, six years later.
The recognition of women internationally, dates back to 1911, when the Russians established an International Women's Day on March 8, which is observed around the globe today. These women, like some of our ancestors, relatives, and friends, set lasting examples of great courage and achievement for us to learn from. They were honored by their husbands, fathers, brothers, uncles, and sons with flowers.
As a local sponsor of the second Annual International Women's Day event in San Antonio, we at Confidential Search Solutions, honor all women who have gone before us and those who are still here with us, in a special way for all that they have done, are doing, and will do for the greater good of their families and/or employers. Their contributions directly benefit our communities and our country. Women everywhere, we thank and honor you!
Respectfully, TJ Haygood, Founder & CEO

Friday Factoid #1 for Employers: Establishing Expectations & Bounders
As an entrusted leader in corporate America with the responsibilities to protect and manage the corporate assets and human resources of your company, when was the last time you sat down with your team and shared your vision and expectations? We are not talking about your company's vision, but your personal vision as a manager for your department.
It has been our observation that all employees have various needs; however, new employees often have greater needs within their first 90 days. One need is, clearly defined job duties. A second need is, full awareness of your company's deadlines and expectations. The absence of specific expectations, structure, and guidance can lead to frustration, boredom, and potentially unproductive behavior for those who are not self motivated.
In the book, "Top Performance," by Zig Zigler, he shares a leaflet that was carried around daily in the pocket of a former Coca-Cola CEO. The leaflet had the following applicable words, "...Whether we succeed or fail is largely a matter of how well we motivate the human beings with whom we deal...Success or failure in this job is thus essentially a matter of human relationships. It is a matter of the kind of reaction to us by our family members, customers, employers, employees, and fellow workers and associates. If this reaction is favorable we are quite likely to succeed. If the reaction is unfavorable we are doomed. The deadly sin in our relationships with people is that we take them for granted. We do not make an active and continuous effort to do and say the things that will make them like us, and believe in us, and trust us, and that will create in them the desire to work with us in the attainment of our desires and purposes."
Begin today establishing a greater sense of purpose at work. Take the time to actively and continuously motivate those around you. Do those things that will help your employees believe in you, trust you, and desire to work for you. By doing so, you will help to attain the visions and desires you desire for your department. Companies need managers like you, who are willing to lead, develop, and train their people to greater heights of success. We at CSS wish you the best! Confidential Search Solutions

Friday Factoid #2 for Employees: The Benefits of Being Friendly
In one of our classes, "Why Won't They Hire Me," we present 28 valid reasons out of 30 real reasons why hiring managers do not hire people. One of the reasons listed is a "negative attitude." Negative words, behaviors, and attitudes are taxing on others ad toxic to your personal and professional well being. Bad news and unprofessional behavior spreads quickly. It has the power to destroy valuable assets like a wild fire in a California forest.
As difficult as life can be sometimes, it can always be worst. Therefore, be thankful for the blessings you do have and make the most of every situation. It is better to embrace a negative situation with a positive mindset, than to transfer your frustration and anger to others. Take the time to own your emotions and share your thoughts and/or feelings in such a way that people are willing to help you.
Toyota is a great example of a corporate citizen that positioned themselves in a positive and professional manner within our San Antonio community. Now that they are going through one of the worst times in their U.S. history, they have prominent individuals like Bexar County Judge, Nelson Wolfe, and Texas Governor Rick Perry, whom are more than willing to advocate for and help them with, any situation, during this unfortunate time. Why? Because of the personal investments and professional contributions Toyota made to over 2000 local employees and their families within our county and state.
Zig Zigler, wrote in his book, "The Science of Top Performance,""When you develop a pleasing personality by being a little friendlier and more outgoing, it can be enormously helpful to you socially, professionally, and , for that matter, spiritually." Take Mr. Zigler's advice and continue to be (or try to become if you are not) a person that is pleasant to be around. It will serve you well in your career.

| Weekend Reflection #1:
The Importance of Rapid Response
When the Pentagon directly calls a military or civilian member for any reason during the day or night, every Department of Defense employee understands the need to move as quickly as a cheetah, in rapid response time. Likewise, when Southwest or United Airlines commits to an on-time departure and arrival time, the pilot, co-pilot, and flight crew, all understand the need for rapid response.
We define "rapid response" as a mental awareness of the need to respond as quickly as possibly, without jeopardizing safety and performance standard. This is critical for all employees to understand and embrace. As it is said, "time is money."
Consider the fact that a receptionist answers an average of 20 sales calls per hour. However, their capacity might actually be 40 sales calls or more per hour. Do you think a 50% efficiency rate is good for the sales team or overall company? This is an example of how one person's lack of rapid response to sales calls can directly affect a salesperson's personal production and an accountant's transaction numbers, in addition to the company's overall revenue and bottom line profit margins.
Take the time to assess your job duties and areas of responsibilities. Create a chart and outline each task with timelines. Then implement new ways to do your job more rapidly without jeopardizing safety or performance standards. When you do, you may notice an increase in both available time and energy at work, gained from using your mind more efficiently. This little exercise will help you learn to work smarter and not harder.
If you are having trouble getting motivated at work, then consider coming to our next class, "Develop a Winning Attitude", with Curtis Johnson. He is a CSS Business Partner, in addition to a former U.S. Olympian and World Champion. You will be absolutely blessed by his professional successes shared. Believe in yourself and know, you are an absolute essential part of your company's success story, regardless of your title or tenure. If you do your best with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and with rapid response, success will eventually follow. Best wishes to you!

Weekend Reflections #2:
Each week we will ask you to remember our military members overseas in a special way. They are away from their family members and loved ones with a longing to return home. If you do not mind, please take a moment to say a silent prayer for them. These men and women from all over the country, represent all 50 states and many foreign countries. We owe it to our troops to support them and give them our highest level of respect and honor to all who have serve and are serving.
We Recognize You!

This week we would like to take a moment to recognize Tywan Jackson, an Army E-7. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Tywan. Your troops think highly of you and your training abilities. We at CSS want to take a moment to salute you!
If you have an American Military family member or friend you would like for us to recognize, please send his or her name, rank, branch of service, and home town to TJHaygood@ConfidentialSS.com. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
