Small LogoWelcome to Confidential Search Solutions' Friday Factoids & Weekend Reflections

Greetings!

As I reflect on the national news this week, I send condolences to the family members and co-workers of Dawn Brancheau, a former Trainer at Sea World in Orlando, Florida, who was accidentally killed by Tillikum, a "Killer Whale."  Interestingly, Tillikum has killed three human beings, and he is still allowed to keep his job.  It made me wonder why some animals are given more favorable treatment than other human beings.

How do we as a society, make decisions to embrace, feed, and spend thousands of dollars in training to take care of domestic and wild animals, when we still have children growing up without shelter, food, love, and proper training?  My question is not an indictment against animal lovers.  It is a question about the values we place on other human beings.

Join me in celebrating life of all human beings.  Let's stretch ourselves to get more involved with children through mentoring programs and community services.  Let's practice being kinder to one another, especially to those who do not look or think like us, or frankly, do not even speak the same language as we do.

If animal trainers like Dawn and others can go through great lengths to learn to communicate with and educate others about the animals they grow to love, then I am completely confident that we, as every day Americans have the courage and the ability to learn what is required for us to work better together to build stronger companies, communities, and ultimately, country.  We can do it!

Have a safe and wonderful weekend everyone!

Respectfully,

TJ Haygood, Founder & CEO

Friday Factoid #1 for Employers: The Benefits of RECESS Can Spawn Your Success

Angelo & TJ in SantoriniDo you remember the experience of going to school and having at least one recess period each week?  It was a special time given to freely run around and have fun with your friends.  You may even recall sitting on a swing or park bench, eating your favorite snack while watching others on the playground.  Recess was energizing and an inspirational experience.  It allowed students the ability to connect with others and focus on "being good," so they could duplicate the experience the next day of going outside for recess again.

As adults in our tightly scheduled work environments, many of us have transitioned into high pressured positions with stressful assignments, over-worked staff, and seriously burned-out leaders with increasing health concerns.  It is time for managers and staff to take a serious look at a possible work solution called RECESS.  Yes, RECESS!

Take the time to go outside for a 10-15 minute period as an office or department and get recharged.  Steam off some energy, or just enjoy the benefits of direct sunlight.  You can go for a walk or run around the parking lot, then come back inside with a rekindled spirit.  RECESS for the working professional can be your very own "Renewable Energy Carefully Engineered to Spawn your Success."  Enjoy RECESS again.

Friday Factoid #2 for Employees:
Simplify Your Life & Get More Accomplished

Take a look into an operating room at a hospital and what do you see?  In most operating rooms, there are some basic essentials, including an operating table, medical instruments in a carefully arranged tray, monitoring machines to monitor vital organs, emergency lights, backup power, and a few metal drawers that house legal narcotics and medical supplies.

Everything in an operating room is simplified and organized before use.  You will not see any clutter.  Everyone knows exactly where the instruments and emergency tools are located.  Yet, some of the most complex, difficult, and challenging procedures are conducted in these very simplified and organized rooms.

Likewise, when professionals are more organized at work, it increases productivity and reduces the likelihood of lost time and lost files.  Take the time to simplify and organize your life.  You too, can get more accomplished.

Weekend Reflection #1:
Two Lessons Learned from Children

Have you ever met a child that was not energetic or inquisitive?  If you have, then you knew either they were not feeling well or comfortable in their environment.  The natural state of being is energy and the natural state of mental growth is an inquisitive mind constantly working and thinking.  Without some level of energy, we cannot walk, talk, eat, sing, work, workout, or do anything.  Without some level of curiosity, we cannot expand our thoughts beyond our current knowledge base, which limits our personal and professional growth.

Like children, our energy level changes as we move from a state of excitement and interest to a state of unwillingness and disconnection.  In fact, the more excited we are mentally about something, the more energy we tend to give it.  Reflect back to when you were "in love" for the first time, talking on the phone for hours and spending countless time together without getting bored or tired because of the mutual interest you had in one another.  Consider athletic performers, entertainers, and co-workers who are passionate about their jobs.  They constantly push themselves to high performance levels because of the energy they give to the occupation they love.

If you want to improve your personal performance level at work, then give it more energy.  Get excited about the mission and learn new things.  If you have not been feeling well lately, then go seek medical assistance to get back to your ideal health.  If you are not comfortable in the environment you are in, consider looking for another position within the company or begin your personal confidential search.  Either way, take these two lessons from children and become more energetic and inquisitive.

Weekend Reflections #2:
We Salute our Toops

Angelo & TJ in SantoriniBeginning next month in March, CSS will feature our Overseas Troops each week in Reflection #2.  We will highlight family members and friends of our readers each week.  If you have a family member you would like us to feature, then send us their name, rank, branch of service, hometown, and special message, along with a picture.  Please do not send us their location, job title or duties for security reasons.  We only want to know that they are stationed overseas.  By sending us the information, you agree to allow us editorial rights to print and share their name, rank, branch of service, hometown, and picture.

Angelo & TJ in SantoriniAs an active duty military spouse for 26 years, while stationed in Europe for three years, our family loved every minute of our service.  However, we were often disappointed when we did not hear from loved ones and friends while we were out of the country.  With social networking sites, email, and wireless telecommunication services, it is a lot easier to stay connected. Therefore, we at CSS want all of our military members to know how very much we support and appreciate them.  However, we especially want to encourage those who are stationed overseas and away from their family and friends.  We salute you and pray for you always.

Welcome Back Cassandra!
Cassandra
We at CSS want to take a moment to welcome back Mrs. Cassandra Littlejohn, one of our Senior Business Partners and Team Member of the year for 2009 from India.  Cassandra was blessed to spend more than two weeks in India with her husband, who is over there on official business.  We are thrilled she made it back to safely.
