You can get out of buying a Valentine's Day gift if there is no one who has a special place in your heart.  However, before you make that conclusion, scroll through your database, Blackberry, Palm pre, Iphone, MP3 player, LinkedIn profile, Facebook page, and customer/vendor directory.  Do you see one loyal and supportive person who has contributed to your overall success?

Some employees become anxious or depressed during the holidays because of a lost love or failed relationship.  If that happens to be you, then try not to think about those relationships. Instead, think about the people who are often overlooked. Think of those who help you daily such as the janitor, the security guards, and the support staff.  Give them a gift and watch their eyes light up.

For those of you who want to purchase a gift but financial resources are scarce, tap into your creative ingenuity and make one this year.  Try preparing some decadent chocolate covered frozen strawberries or making a Valentine card for a friend.  You can even make cupcakes, brownies or bake a heart-shaped chocolate cake with white vanilla frosting and red hot candy sprinkled on top for that special someone.  There are many ways to give from the heart without buying a gift. For most recipients, it is the thought that counts.  Whatever you do this year, enjoy the holiday like you have never enjoyed it before.
