Small LogoWelcome to Confidential Search Solutions' Friday Factoids & Weekend Reflections

Greetings!

The holidays are over, the weight gain is staring at you in the mirror, some vacation days were lost, the school buses are running behind schedule again, and you still did not get enough sleep over your vacation.  How did that happen?

Don't worry, ten years from now, it will not matter and you may not even remember this time.  Do you understand how important it is for us to let these things go?  If not, let's talk.

Make 2010 the year you begin to enjoy life again. Join us as we operate from a positive disposition and a thankful heart.

In spite of the colder temperature outside, put some warmth back into your life.  Smile and laugh more with those around you. Enjoy the blessings of life.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Respectfully,

Friday Factoid #1 for Employers: Think Twice Before You Overload Your Best Employees With More Assignments

CSS Over-workedY
es, you know they can handle the job, they can meet the deadline, they can minimize your work load and they can make you look good in front of the Big Cheese, but at what cost? It is important to think twice about the potential risks of employees' increased stress levels, particularly your stronger performers.

Added stress can reduce workers' performance, increase errors, magnify health related problems, and contribute to unexpected resignations and higher turnover ratios.  The risks of losing critical employees are far greater than most employers are equipped to handle.

Top performers with a strong work ethic are extremely valuable.  They are in great demand.  Take the time to show them genuine appreciation.

Both public and private recognition can make a huge difference in an employee's decision to become a loyal and trustworthy employee. Hiring contract employees and/or consultants during peak seasons or replacing under performing employees can also increase the tenure of your key employees.  These ideas are some of the ways in which we assist our clients.  Call us for a free consultation to determine your specific needs.

Friday Factoid #2 for Employees: "The  Sky is Falling, the Sky is Falling..."

Thinker

In yesterday's issue of USAToday.com, Ms. Heidi Shierholz, an economist from the Economic Policy Institute, shared her thoughts on how her research points to a rocky financial recovery period over the next five to ten years as a result of the recession.  She also anticipates that the unemployment rate will remain elevated at least for the next five years and that joblessness could be stuck at 8% by 2014.

With all the doom and gloom, one may think, "Why bother trying to improve your career options?"  While everyone is yelling "the sky is falling, the sky is falling...", we want you to be encouraged and stay focused.  You need to take control over how you think and the amount of negativity you allow to occupy the space between your ears.  Be confident!  Be proactive about your career development needs.  Be responsible for your decisions and stay connected to professionals in your career.

Now is the time to ignore the bad press and become a restorer of hope for your career success.  If you are currently unemployed, you must be selfish about your time and spend it wisely.  Talk to as many people and hiring managers on a daily basis as possible.  Be prepared to verbalize your skills, qualifications, and work experience within two to three minutes.  The more concise you are, the more impressive you will sound to a potential employer.  We wish you the absolute best with your continued success.

Weekend Reflection #1:
      Conditioning to Win in 2010
TJ
By: Cassandra Littlejohn, Sr. Business Partner

You must become intentional about winning.  It won't just happen.  You and your company will both have great possibilities for success.  The key is what you are willing to do.   How much time and energy are you willing to invest in yourself?  What sacrifices are you willing to make?

It is the everyday things that lead to major victories.  Develop a personalized daily plan and learn to listen to your own voice.  Be very clear about what you plan to accomplish.  Communicate your present and future accomplishments with others.  Spoken words are particles being released in the atmosphere to make things happen.

Avoid discouragement by refusing to quit.  There will be moments of failure.  Let it be your resolve that you will make it; you will learn and grow, but you will not quit.  Identify key people who can help guard your success. "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed."  As the new day arises, be humbled that you have awakened a winner of hope and opportunity.  Seek directions, wisdom, and favor to win in 2010.
