Small LogoWelcome to Confidential Search Solutions' Friday Factoids & Weekend Reflections

Greetings!

Happy Friday! Can you believe we are in the final month of the last quarter in 2009?  Wow!  So much has changed over the last 12 months (the stock market fluctuations, real estate devaluations, the unemployment rate, the growing deficit, etc.).  Where did the time go?

In spite of it all, we still have a lot to celebrate, and to be thankful for.  Christmas bells, Hanukkah menorahs, and Kawanza candles are adorning various homes and many window sills this month.  It is an exciting time for some and a very depressing time for others.  Therefore, please be sensitive and show compassion to those less fortunate.

Regardless of your traditions, consider giving three of my favorite gifts this holiday season: love, forgiveness, and kindness.  They are precious gifts that will endure for a lifetime.  They are available internationally to distribute to loved ones at home, in the United States, and those who are in foreign countries around the world.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

Respectfully,

Friday Factoid #1 for Employers: When Nuts & Bolts Won't Work Then What?

H
ave you ever tried to repair an appliance or put together a complicated toy for a young child and later learned that you did not have the right tools in your tool box except for some nuts and bolts?  What did you do?  Did you attempt  to borrow the required tools from a neighbor? Did you quit, give up, or ignore the problem?

Many people would seek to resolve the problem by borrowing someone else's tools or purchasing their own set for future projects.  However, there are others who would make the decision to quit or ignore the problem.  The differences in the two approaches are a reflection of their personal drive and determination in addition to their level of confidence to succeed.

Likewise, in business there are times when managers need to gain additional access to other resources in order to grow and develop their people.  Some of the tools we highly recommend are: a Resourceful perspective, an Engaging personality, an Adaptable attitude, a Determined mind-set, and a You-focused career awareness in order to be READY to manage various work related challenges.  Make sure you include industry reference materials, management training books, and professional development courses like our empowerment training classes for employers.

Friday Factoid #2 for Employees: Get Motivated without Depending on Your Managers to Motivate You!

MelissaMany employees consider their managers to be the primary catalyst for motivation at work.  However, fellow co-workers are equally capable of motivating themselves and others.

According to NFL Champion, Terry Bradshaw at a recent "Get Motivated!"  seminar, "We got to be motivators, stimulators, and agitators of people."  That is something we all can do for one another as fellow co-workers.

Remember managers are just one individual within a department.  It is time for each employee to become a major contributor to the organization in more ways than one.  An employee's personal potential to influence another person favorably in their department is significant.  Therefore each employee should strive to motivate at least one other person each day.  True motivation comes from within.  Give positive feedback regularly and do not rely only on your manager as the source of your motivation.

Weekend Reflection #1: Our First Blog Radio Talk Show
TJ
Wow! As I reflect on this past week, it has been an amazing experience. For the first time CSS was invited to go live, on Blog Talk Radio on Thursday night.  We shared and talked about the growing trend of employers conducting online internet research of potential employees.

Although the internet has magnified various online behaviors between employers and employees, the concept of "spying" or checking out a potential employee prior to an interview or official offer is nothing new.  For years, a great number of employers have consistently conducted prelimary inquiries by calling former colleagues at previous companies where the candidates have worked to obtain character references.

Conducting informational/online research on potential employees is a very hot topic these days.  The pros and cons are strong on both sides.  While my personal opinion about the matter is private, I can share with you that I do understnad both sides of the debate.  For full coverage of the webcast go to:  http://www.blogtalkradio.com/tech-in-twenty/2009/12/04/tech-in-twenty

Weekend Reflections #2:  Being in the Presence of World Renowned Leaders

Cassandra & DarryWe, along with 20,000 other people were privileged to be in the presence of some incredibly talented and accomplished world renowned leaders this week at the Get Motivated! Seminar held at the AT&T Center on Wednesday.  We had great seats.  We hung on every word they shared.  They inspired, motivated, and stimulated our thinking.  We listened, we laughed, we pondered, and we even became tearful at times just reflecting on the personal moments they shared with us.

The opportunity to hear General Colin Powell (former Secretary of State), our 43rd President George W. Bush, Tamara Lowe (Co-Founder of the Get Motivated Seminars), Phil Town, James Smith, Zig Zigler at 83 years old, Rick Belluzzo, and others, was simply amazing.

While the entire experience was absolutely wonderful, another highlight of the day was hearing how very special we are as individuals.  We were each created for a very special reason, which is to be a blessing to others.  So take your rightful place and be all that you can be from this day forward.  You can do it.  Have a great weekend!
