Esperance is her original name; built in 1967, she is the last commercial boat built for the Canal du Midi.
Until 1985, she had been cruising as a wine carrier between Bordeaux and Sete.
Because of the quality of her construction, she became one of the first private yachts to cruise the Canals of France.
In 2002, this beautiful boat was converted into a luxury boutique hotel barge with stylish decor and noble materials for 4 to 6 guests.
After many years of cruising in Burgundy and in the Provence area, she is now back on the Canal du Midi offering a unique cruise for guests coming from all over the world and looking for a real French experience onboard an authentic Canal du Midi barge.
Her 540 sq ft raised sun deck with lounge chairs, sun mats and table with chairs is the perfect place to enjoy the fantastic scenery. There is even a hot tub to make this experience a dream.
And of course, what would a French barge cruise be without the gastronomy?
The talent of the onboard chef is to understand your expectations, feel your taste and surprise you every day with creative recipes and beautiful presentation.
Therefore, Esperance does not have any fixed menu for the week. The art of the chef is in using local fresh produce and creating a very special menu especially for you during your week onboard Esperance.
