AUPE Local 39
Feb 15, 2012
Greetings!

They say no news is..... well.....in our case....
... no news is still just no news. As we go about our daily lives and our hectic schedules and try to balance work, family, social activities and everything else that comes our way, we wait and wait and wait for some word....any word on what is happening with our arbitration.

Still, no word comes. Nothing.............. and still we wait. Your Local 039 Council waits with you.

Frustrated....., angry....., disappointed.....

We know that these and just a few of the words that describe what you are feeling. We know that there are many others. Below is a copy of an email we received from an AUPE member. We have published it here with the members permission. We would like you to send us your thoughts, feelings and comments to info@aupelocal39.com or directly to our Chair Rosemary Read at chair@aupelocal39.com

Please know that we will update you and post information to the website as soon as we have additional information.

Here is what you have written in and told us:

"I work at SAIT and recently received a notification about the latest bargaining between SAIT and the union.  I am very disappointed with SAIT's offer to the Union workers.

I have worked at SAIT for a number years and according to this latest offer, I will get nothing for my labor.

This is very demoralizing to the AUPE workers here at SAIT.  We wonder how SAIT can give the Deans and Directors an 18% raise because they made their targets, but give the workers who helped them make the targets nothing.

The Deans and Directors could not have made their targets without the hard work of the AUPE workers.

I think we, the AUPE workers deserve a raise that equals the cost of living at the very least.  It is very hard to see one's paycheck become less and less because all the expenses (food, gas for vehicles, electricity, etc) keep increasing.

If SAIT does not feel they can give any monetary increase, then please push to have them give us 5 - 10 extra paid vacation days.  We would then feel that SAIT has put some value on the years of service we have given to SAIT"
