Did You Know?

 #1 AUPE Training Opportunities

Did you know that our Union offers training opportunities to all our members? That means YOU!!! I didn't, not really. It wasn't until I took on the roll of Vice Chair in May that I really realized that there are training opportunities available to ALL OUR MEMBERS, not just a handful of members, not just the Local Council members and not just "a chosen few".

The courses range from "Respect In the Workplace" to "Union Steward" Training to  "Contract Interpretation" and so on.

As a matter of fact I received confirmation today that I am registered to attend the "Introduction to Your Union" 1 day training course to be held at the end of this month. The course will be held not far from SAIT, the Union will pay SAIT for my time off for me to attend and lunch is provided.

If you look at the information about the course you will see that it's really something any member may be interested in attending. It provides basic information on AUPE and its structure and democratic process. It also addresses two questions. What can the Union do for me and what's my responsibility to my union?.

To find out more information about how you can attend an AUPE Training Course visit Member Resources - Education on the Provincial Website or email us at info@aupelocal39.com. If you'd like to talk with me directly please email me and I'd be glad to set up a time to meet with you or call. My contact information is noted below.

Members of our Local Council participated in  a Local 039 Mobilization course this past weekend. Check out the Provincial Website for a photo of the group and information. Even though it was a Saturday and not a Wednesday we all wore BLACK to continue to show our support and solidarity throughout our Bargaining process.
