AUPE Local 39
BLACK WEDNESDAY #2
Greetings!

Tomorrow is
BLACK WEDNESDAY!!!

AUPE Black Wednesday 1 Jan 4-12
It's the second Wednesday in January. Please show your solidarity and support for our Bargaining Committee by wearing BLACK to work.

The following quote was in a letter to Local 39 last summer from our Union President Guy Smith regarding our Negotiations. I felt it appropriate to re-share this with you as a reminder of the more than 76,000 other AUPE Union members that are behind us supporting us in our efforts to gain a fair and reasonable Collective Agreement:

"...Our bargaining professionals will ensure your negotiations move forward as quickly as they can be made to do so, backed by the force of law if necessary. We will be aggressive in advancing your interests and protecting your rights. We are confident that through the legal tools available to us; we can bring these negotiations to a conclusion that is satisfactory to you.

To do this, however your bargaining committee also needs your support - backing its goals and being prepared to take what actions are legal and necessary to focus the minds of the Administration and the public on the situation at SAIT.

I look forward to continuing to work with you and eventually this agreement will resolve by law, if necessary, and SAIT's Administration can be made to see the benefits of a more positive working relationship with you, its dedicated and committed employees...."

Last Wednesday was a wonderful success.
Lets continue to show our support!

We will be taking a group photo tomorrow, January 11, 2012 at 12:30 outside the main doors to Heritage Hall (south entrance). This should only take a few minutes so if you are available please plan to join us.

We will be taking a photo every Wednesday this month at the same time at the same location (rain, snow storm or shine).

We would like to send photos with our Bargaining Committee to Arbitration on January 27, 30 and 31 with all our Members wearing Black standing outside Heritage Hall.

Thank you for your continued support of our Local.
